On Wednesday i played my first game against the new chaos. my poor hammer/storm shield terminators fell foul of the black mace. Out of a unit of 5 termys and a termy chaplain all that was left was a single terminator. I was interested to know if anyone else has had something like this happen. Please tell me your stories of epic fail if for no better reason then to make me feel better and it would be funny.

I once saw a mob of gretchin gun down a squad of wolf guard terminators, does that make you feel better?

I've already had (tested by proxy) a full unit of Warp Talons with a Chaos Lord sporting Jump Pack mishap and die (even under the safer 6th Edition rules) while I attempted to use the "Blind" option. :) This has colored my view of them as a unit. They are more dangerous to you than your opponent. In the seven attempts I've made, I've had a mishap three times, one of which was lethal and the other two delayed me painfully. Twice I landed but failed to blind. Twice that I actually hit the mark saw the affected units make their simple Initiative test. :) The cost of the death mishap took out a significant portion of my total army points.

please don't say that! I haven't had chance to play-test warp talons but the concept is sooo cool that i really wanted to take them. If my 180 points are better off elsewhere i will be disappointed! :(

Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?

Just deep-strike them a good distance away behind cover, then jump out and assault with your very fast movement. Much more reliable than praying for the blinding to work.

Let's see, my epic-ist fails to date have been:
-10 Plague Marines w/ 2 Plasma Guns: first shot of the game sees *both* Plague Marines burning themselves with their guns. Yes, as in 1's each, then failed armor, then failed fnp.

-Lemartes + 5 Death Company charge 5 Tactical Marines. The net result? 2 Death Company dead. I whiffed the full 21-or-so attacks, even with 3s to hit and Lemartes' Chaplain re-roll ability, then lost 1 DC to Tac Squad fisticuffs. The extra-special fun part was this was 5th Edition, so when I failed my Leadership, I lost another DC (armor, fnp, and all) to Fearless shenanigans.

On the other hand, I did have a Havoc squad survive a charge from Terminators and punch one out, causing the Terms to run away, so that balances things a bit.

Overwatch from 4 bolters kill 3/4 of my charging Terminators. And I failed the charge.

GW Torquay, circa 1994/1995.

Titan Legions was still new, and people still getting their head round the Imperator.

Foolish player forgot to charge the shield generator with Plasma. Gretchin stand takes a pot shot. Hits, bang on the reactor. Snake eyes to save, 6 on the damage chart. 2,250 points goes down!

Watched my friend lose Mephiston to perils of the warp in 3 consecutive games without him using a power/killing anything

I once had a unit of Tau Pathfinders beat a unit of Khorne Berzerkers in CC.
Also had a single assault marine take down a devilfish with a melta bomb, then charge, beat and rout the fire warrior squad on the next turn (they were in DT and couldn't run away fast enough, and yes I said assault marine...singular).
And finally I had a buddy in 2nd edition who calculated after our one sided match that his eldar had 146 shots, 2 hits which only caused 1 wound to my commander and ultimately didn't kill anything the entire game.

I guess the moral of the story is "don't play against me if I'm having a streak of good luck" lol.

My last game, I took my new Tzeentch Herald on Disc with 5 Flammers out for s spin. They mishap and get destroyed! Darned new model syndrome! I swear it always happens. When I took my new Deff Dread for a spin, it gets exploded and takes out 75% of my Grots... lol. I stand there wondering why I deployed it so close to the Grots and facepalmed. That whole game sucked, I could not do a thing. I rolled so bad and my opponents dice were on fire. Worst game ever and I laughed though the whole thing in disbelief and amusement. We ran out of time, but I said his Tau Commander would beat my Warboss in CC the way the game was going! That was my last game of 5th ed too, talk about going out with a bang!

I had a Thousand Sons squad manage to kill only one Tactical Squad member - rapid-firing eight Thousand Sons and firing a Doombolt into a Tactical Squad out in the open usually results in a dead or near dead squad. What was even worse, the same Tactical Squad rapid-fired me back and killed half my exponentially more expensive squad. Derp.
Also had Fateweaver run off the table to - you guessed it - a single Boltgun hit.

Had some crazy good moments of 'thread the needle' though. I wanted to fire my Defiler at an Ork unit to clear them away from my Thousand Sons, but of course, they were locked in combat. Stuck between two Ork Trukks, I put the battle cannon template over the Trukk (which would be hitting some of the Orks) and hoped I could get a decent scatter (the Trukks really weren't my priority - I needed to get my 1K Sons out of combat). I've never seen the stars align like that - it scattered perfectly into the melee to not hit any of my guys, yet hit all of the Orks and both Trukks. It killed all 10 Orks and IIRC wrecked one or both of the Trukks.

Another highlight was when a 5-daemon unit of Bloodletters was charged by a 5-man Grey Knight Strike Squad. The Bloodletters were in range of Fateweaver, but even then, getting shot and charged by a Strike Squad with a psycannon usually results in death. Suffice it to say, I lost one Bloodletter and wiped out the Strike Squad in one round. My opponent didn't even realize they were Bloodletters!

Think the funniest, luckiest thing I saw in the last couple years, was my IG Company Commander (using the Creed model, not his stats) beating off a squad of Terminators with Librarian Termie, in close combat! He had a power sword, to be fair, but it took some incredibly unlucky rolls by my friend, plus some super lucky 5+ Refractor saves from this Co. Librarian went down first to a furious return salvo of c*ckpunching, then a couple Termies in the second round. And the rest of them broke in bewilderment.

You guys got nothing on my level of fail...... That proved i should not own titans...

First my Eldar Revenant lost combat with a spacemarine captain (In power armour...with a thunder hammer) that some how got across the rather huge table passing 4+ saves..... And exploded in the first round of combat... (On the upside he killed 200 guardsmen & 2 baneblades that both went critical due to lots of 6's being rolled so the two players owning the guard and baneblade's where pretty mad...They just finished setting up from reserves lol)

*cough* This second one is the saddest...

My Reaver got killed by a single killa Kan.............I have decided that i should in the future never own titans and just stick to big tanks -_-

I think the worst thing that has happened to me is my Farseer and Howling Banshees, french from chopping up Abbadon and chaos terminator bodyguard of ten over two turns with no losses in a previosu game, were stuck in combat with grots for four turns.

Another truly miraculous stroke of bad luck (for my opponent) was in a game of Apocalypse with my DE force. We were fighting on a city board where reinforcements for the IoM could appear randomly from any one of eight or so bunker entrances. Anyway Lelith Hesperax ended up on her own in front of one and a LR Punisher trundles out right in front of her. 30 S5 shots later and Miss Hesperax hasn't lost a single wound.

Just the other day my brother in law's T6 Warp Smith (nurgle + a boon) got killed in combat by 2 reaver jetbikes (1 wound on overwatch, 1 from four S3 attacks in melee).
