that camo net isnt adhered to the model yet and remember its still got a bit more "spiffing up" to be done, I'll be adding rivets to the crew compartment , Also I will be draping a camo net over parts of the compartment/barrel and cleaning up the joints/edges.

Be better if you posted some pics instead of links! As for the conversion itself, I see one glaring weakness. Because you used a highlighter, the gun barrel bulges very oddly as it goes out. I'd grab some plastic tubing, or failing that, find some markers or something with a uniform thickness. If you stick with the highlighter, the odd shape will only get more pronounced when painted.

Great idea, just needs a minor tweak to look right :)

When I built mine I went this route.
This is the prototype I have another that was built as a permanent piece I need to take pictures of as well.
