Also, does anyone know how the party system is going to work? I've seen references to having a party, but none of the gameplay clips seem to show them with the main character.

So, worryingly it is looking like the Deluxe Editions are only available from everybody's favourite worst B&M retailer, Game, and that the PC Deluxe edition is only available from everyone's favourite worst digital retailer, Origin. Good old EA

I can understand why folks had issues with da2, though I quite enjoyed it. I actually thought combat was much better in it. Mages weren't auto win so much and rouges could actually cope without needing two tanks to protect them. Also, I want all the shiny things.

It’s on the streets of Orlais that the Inquisition finds Sera—or rather, she finds them.

Sera‘s an outsider, a rogue elf who senior writer Luke Kristjanson describes as a “troublemaker.” She brings to the Inquisition the perspective of the little people caught between powerful factions as the world spins out of control.

“Sera is brash and fun,” Kristjanson says. “She takes nothing seriously until it deserves to be taken seriously, and not much does. She’s only seen power from the underside, a view that gives her an almost complete lack of respect for the arrogance behind authority.”

The Inquisition is the fastest Sera’s ever seen someone “in power” move. She’s never had the chance to get in early and make sure those heading to the top stay humble. But there are also big questions that she needs to answer for herself—“hole in the sky” big—and the Inquisition seems like the place to do it.

“The phrase I keep going back to is ‘she’s not about what’s right, she’s about what’s right now’,” Kristjanson says. “Doing something for the ‘greater good’ makes her angry, because she thinks that’s shorthand for ‘let’s hurt people who don’t deserve it because it’s easier.’ But she’s got her own reasons for helping too. Play nice with the vulnerable and you’ve always got friends, and friends are better than power.”

During 18 years at BioWare, Kristjanson has written many memorable characters for nearly all of BioWare’s franchises from Baldur’s Gate to Inquisition. It’s different every time, but he says it’s always fun.

“Sera is raw and genuine,” says Kristjanson. “I’ve written plenty of characters who were too clever for their own good. Sera hasn’t had to test her beliefs, so she brings a level of honest discovery that is cutting and refreshing. I had a lot of fun with her voice in particular. The actor nailed it day one. From the first voice test, she was Sera. Her laugh is great.”

With the fate of Thedas hanging in the balance and pressures mounting, Sera’s reckless abandon won’t win over every party member she fights alongside.

“Sera likes people who try (even if they fail), and is suspicious of people who are so powerful they don’t have to,” Kristjanson says. “There are people she loves, people she hates, and people she loves to hate. That draws a line, in and out of the party.”

In short, Sera speaks her mind.

“She makes no secret of her feelings,” Kristjanson says. “I don’t think she could if she tried.”

Bears are a finite resource. As you venture through the inviting world in Inquisition, the wildlife rebels against your presence. To you and I, a bear would be a formidable enemy. If you're a rogue accompanied by a mage, an archer, and a warrior, though, that poor bear is going to see his furry parents is ursine heaven. Of course, successfully felling that cuddly beast nets you a pelt, which make for great clothes if you don't mind the smell of death wafting around you. However, your mark is felt in Inquisition. Go hunting too often and the animal population will dwindle. Introducing environmental conservation in this mystical world gives permanence to your actions. What kind of inquisitor will you be? And how will you sleep at night?

And then there's the combat. This has always been a weak spot for me in Western RPGs. I must have strange tastes, because while others were enamored by "fus ro dah"ing in Skyrim, unleashing bionic hell in Mass Effect, or meditating like a madman in Witcher 2, I would finish as quickly as possible so I could get back to the parts I cared about. But Dragon Age: Origins was one of the few outliers. More tactics game than RPG, it required careful planning to overcome every foe you encountered. This kept me riveted in each new showdown, although its high difficulty could be frustrating when I wanted to know the next story point. This was a far cry from its sequel in which mashing A was enough to progress. There has to be a happy medium.

Well, Inquisition may have struck that balance. For those who love destructive chaos, throwing your weight around looks to be a viable strategy against weaker enemies. And once the medieval poop hits the wind-powered fan, you need to use a top-down camera to plan your attacks with precision. Not only can you direct where your mage stands or what tactics your rogue should take, but you can inhabit each member of your party midfight. So pound away at a dragon's leg from up close, and than switch to your archer to finish it with an arrow strike. I hope the combat isn't too button mashy, but from what little I saw, it looks to be strategic enough so you can't just tap away without any thought.

As revealed by IGN, Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer will feature three campaigns at launch, each of which will randomly generate a large area of several individual sections to fight through. Each of these sections will have variable elements that can change with each playthrough, a system intended to give multiplayer a high degree of replayability, and combat will take place exclusively in real-time, so players who stick with the turn-based tactical mode in single-player will have to think and act a little more quickly than they're used to.

The game will include nine multiplayer heroes at launch, and "lots of DLC, lots of new heroes and levels" are planned for the future, according to Producer Scylla Costa. There's no plan to introduce subscription fees for access to additional multiplayer content, but players who don't want to grind to unlock it can purchase Platinum, an "optional time saver" currency, to get to the good stuff more quickly.

Also:

Dragon Age: Inquisition cooperative multiplayer won't be tied to single-player campaign. i.e. you won't be forced to do multiplayer if you don't want.

Finally (for now):

"Based on user feedback, beginning with Dragon Age: Inquisition, BioWare Points will no longer be supported as a means to purchase DLC," BioWare announced today. "This applies to PC or Mac only, as consoles will continue to support their respective methods of purchasing downloadable content."

So exactly how will you go about purchasing the inevitable DLC, you ask? "Instead of using BioWare Points, PC and Mac users can purchase future DLC directly through Origin, using currency," the announcement says. Games that currently support BioWare Points for DLC purchases—Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2 and 3—will continue to do so.

Guys honestly i had not read all 37 pages... but i want to tell how much I'm disappointed for this game :(
I loved Dragon Age Origins and liked DAII, but this one give me a Sci-Fi feeling that I hate.
I know that gameplay and story should be more important than sound - effect -interface... but this is really to "explosive" for me :(
I feel like it's Diablo III mixed with Mass Effect. I hope they put in the game an old-rpg interface and sound too ç____ç

Every time i see a battle scene, i just hear sci-fi weapon noises and a lot of colored explosions instead of normal attack noise... I watched a video about the archer and even the arrows where giving some exaggerate innatural feel, making esplosive sound and flashy special effect... same things for the weapons.
In Dragon Age origins a hammer sound like a hammer, same thing in game like Morrowind - Oblivion - Skyrim. Probably the problem it'is me, i prefer the natural approach like Chivalry Medioeval warfare (or Skyrim and previous) than the flashy DAIII animations and axplosions. With a different camera and slightly less exaggerated effect, this game could give the best immersion for rpg in my opinion, as 3d models and facial animations are top.

So you can unlock DA:I now using a VPN....

First, you'll need to pre-load Inquisition, which you can do right now through your regular internet connection.
Then, you'll need a VPN. I've previously used SoftEther VPN, and it works well. Alternatives include FlyVPN, which is supposedly more user friendly.
To play the game, make sure Origin is closed, then start the VPN software. If you're running SoftEther, you'll need to click "VPN Gate Public VPN Relay Servers" to open the list of public relays. From here, select a country where Inquisition has launched; such as the USA, or South Korea.
Once connected, launch Origin and start the game. Then, once launched, alt-tab out to close the VPN. You're now able to play Dragon Age: Inquisition—although you may need to repeat this process each time you restart Origin.

how important do you reckon it is to be up to date story wise to enjoy Inquisition? I've completed Origins, but that entirely failed to captivate me, strangely - especially the characters... I don't even know why, but I found pretty much all of them annoying instead of bonding with them as I should and fully expected to... which, combined with the rather mediocre reviews gameplay wise, led me to pass on part 2...

You don't need to have played 2, you can get a crash course in what's happening in the world via Dragon Age Keep but even that isn't strictly necessary, Bioware make it so you don't have to have played each game to appreciate the new one.

The good:

F@%*ing epic: as said this game is huge, the scenery is amazing and beautiful, and it really does have a massive, epic scope.

Representation! Lots of women and non-white people in crowds and as talking NPCs, saw some dark-skinned elves in Redcliffe and one of the major non-party NPCs is a black lady and there's a canon transgender character (http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Krem) (which was a wonderful surprise to see on the Trans Day of Remembrance) like for reals people.

Choices - now we all like to make fun of BioWare for the end of ME3, but they've really picked up their game (ha!) here - there are instances where people ask about your faith, or reaction to being seen as a religious figure, and you can accept it, deny it, scorn it, say you don't know, say you hope not and say you hope so in some cases. And even choices to question your own character's faith in conversations. It's pretty bloody amazing and important in both the DA world and DAI in particular.
Also race selection really seems to matter, there are lots of bits where people will refer to you with slang about your choice race, make comments like "I expected you to be human", a minor sub-plot about people using your race against you, and even being able to say "I can't be the saviour I'm a qunari!". And when everyone's getting on your case about something you can defend it as having to make a decision then and there and get grumpy at them.

Humour - not as much as a Hawke who's gone full purple, but there's still a lot there and is really necessary.

Autosaving - it autosaves a helluva lot.

The NPCs and Companions - A wide, diverse bunch and lots of really interesting conversations to be had. Got a list of "people most likely to betray me" but even then I actually like all the characters I've met, and while there are some party members I like less, it's not like previous games where there have been characters I actively disliked *coughStencough*

The Map - when you switch to the map it'll show a trail behind your marker so you can see where you've been. It's brilliant and I love it. Makes searching so much easier.

Cutscenes - lots of them and really pretty. The epic battles are really epic and the more personal ones have more emotion to them.

Mounts - riding a horse is not terrible! Quite fun as you can trample people even :p

The Music - Epic.

Epicness - yes.



The not so good:

Cutscenes - Well they do have some glitches, mostly I think due to playing a qunari, who is a full head taller than a human. It does lead to such scenes as a conversation where the shot instead of being her face her head is out of frame so it's a screen of her boobs talking :p There are also glitches where she won't be holding things quite properly or when she moves it's a bit odd with some clipping, but I'm assuming that's due to mesh issues using animations designed for smaller figures. It's not terrible I don't feel.
Also sometimes there are NPCs resetting in the background so you'll be talking to someone and have a merchant nyoom past in the background :p

Interface - it's clearly a console port, the inventory system is kinda terrible to be honest, and the keyboard and mouse controls are a bit clunky. It's not bad but, well, when Skyrim has a better inventory management system that you... also no way to quickly switch between inventory and profile screens, and still cant unequip items in merchant screens so if you buy a replacement you have to buy it, go into inventory and swap, then go back and sell the old one.

Muddy instructions - not for quests, but for how some game mechanics work, like selecting quests or fast travel and the like. Just a bit of extra mucking around but not serious.

The grind is real - the downside of the game being so huge. You can go a long time between "real" missions, needing to do lots of sidequests to get stats/points up to go do plot missions. Not terrible but if you're like me and play for the story mostly it can be a bit frustrating at times.

Party banter - not sure if it's just me but I"ve only had one instance of party banter so far. Bit of a shame as it can make the game feel very silent at times.

It runs hot - seriously if you're on PC it is a beast. As said above you get some weird graphical things like everyone having shiny hair if the setting aren't up high but I'm pretty sure my computer would burst into flames so whatever.

Misc - not sure why but there's a bit where you meet a certain someone and it gives you the option to customise their appearance in the middle of the game but when I did that it switched my Inquisitors voice to the american one and omg it's terrible. I think I know why that happened but still really weird.


Overall though it is an amazing game and all y'all should get it!

I am finding the difficulty spikes quite a lot, you can go seal one fade rift, move to the second one in the same area, and get utterly obliterated by beasties.

Yup enemies don't scale and regions tend to have bits with higher levels. In hinterlands most things are 4-8 but there are a few rifts that are 12.

sort of, they are tears in reality where daemons are coming through and you have to go seal them up by killing all the daemons there and repairing the tear.

I've had basically zero bugs, but I do hope they patch it soon for those you are affected.

I've had problems with CTDs and the aforementioned Warden bug, oh and my inquisitors voice switched from British to American after a certain spoilerific event but that's a known bug and I ddin't mind much. Installed beta AMD drivers and its reduced CTDs a whole lot thankfully.

You can fix the too-shiny hair by kicking one of the options up to High. The Meshes, I think. It doesn't affect performance much (actually ran smoother for me).

I like it immensely. It's really good. And Qunari4Lyfe~
