This list s focused around the idea that Bikes are Badass =D

This is a themed list, but I do want it to be "Prepared" - not necessarily for a tournament, but for just about anything my friends may bring. I feel I got myself covered for the big anti's (anti tank, anti horde, and anti air).

Primary Detachment: Space Marines

HQ:
Kor'sarro Khan [Warlord]
on Moondrakkan

[Troops]
x5 Space Marine Bike Squad
x2 w/ Bolt Pistol
x2 w/ Meltagun
Sarge w/ Power Weapon (thinking lance for lol factor)
Attack Bike w/ Multi-Melta

[Fast Attack]
x3 Attack Bike Squads
w/ Multi-Melta

[Heavy Support]
x2 Hyperious Air Defense Battery [Imperial Armour 2]
w/ 3 Platforms Each

And because I wanted to do Bikes = Awesome, i decided to throw in a lil more fun.

Allied Detachment: Dark Angels
Battle Brothers.

[HQ]
Sammael, Master of the Ravenwing
On Jetbike

[Troop]
Upgraded Ravenwing Attack Squadron
x3 w/ Bolt Pistol [1 Apothecary, 1 Standard Bearer]
x2 w/ Bolt Pistol & Meltagun
Sargent w/ Powerweapon (lance again lol) & Chainsword
Attack Bike w/ Multimelta

So, for anti-horde, I have a lot of bikes that all have twin-linked bolters, and a variety of grenades.
For anti-tank I have a mess of Melta wepaons
And fora anti-air I have some inexpensive anti-air turrets.

Got 2 cool guys on cool bikes. The rest, more or less standard fare.

I've used bikes to an extent and I have learned that they are squishy, more so then you think. Your biggest advantage is the out flanking that the bikes of the Kahn and Samuel can do. Bringing in those squads from the sides is extremely fun and usually force your opponent to play their hand early or make a false step. You can make them have too much on their hands if you escort your out flankers with talons.

It's a fun list but it takes getting used to. And don't do raven wing if your not sporting deathwing, they are made to support each other and not much else, plus they are too espensive otherwise.I got an 1850 list that's 7-2 right now. Only losing to a really well played 6 russ ig and BA where all 3 of my bike squads can on the side and my talons were the victims of some amazing snapshot plasma/infernus pistols.

Really? Huh.
So, you'd have me drop the Dark Angels? (since this is all theory I easily could.)

Since that frees up some points, what would you reccomend I use to fill the gap (beyond the obvious 6th troop slot squad).

Talons escorting your out flankers. It's lethality will get unsuspecting opponents sweating bullets.

This list is still a work in progress but I used to crush people with less bikes (ravenwing) I switched to vanilla to get more points in and... More bikes :)

Kahn on moondrakkan 205
Command squad on bikes, 2flamers 215
Troops
8 bikes, 2 plasma, 1 power weapon.----x2 520
7bikes + mm attack bike, 2 meltas and power weapon 275
Tactical, flamer+ml 170
Fast attack
Stormtalon, typhoon ml----x3 465

3 units on the field, Kahn cc squad and tac. If you use terrain wisely, people will spread too thin trying to get to you or being over confident and spread to objectives and then it's an easy game of divide and conquer. When I played this as raven wing I only had 18 bikes at 1850. More bikes and the ability to hit and run with Kahn means awesome ability to shoot and charge every turn, I took the flamers because hoards are all over the place in 6th.

How about this version?

2500/2500
HQ:
Kahn on Moondraken

Space Marine Chapter Master on Bike
- Relic Blade, Combi-Melta, Digital Weapons, Hellfire Rounds, Artificer Armour.

Troops:
x6 Space Marine Bike Squadrons
- x5 Marines w/ Bolt Pistols, x2 Marines w/ Melta guns

Fast:
x2 Storm Talon Gunship [No Upgrades]

More bikes then my previous list, but less attack bikes.
Can combat squad things to make more squads - and everything but the air-stuff will be points scoring.

Plan is to stick the ChapterMaster and Khan in a squad to make them the Assault Squad, thanks to Khans rules.
Plus, a Orbital Bombartment can be a sweet thing
(I could swap out the Chapter Master for a Chaplain, making Khans melee's even more intense w/ Liturgies and Fearless)

Hello everyone!

Lately I've been playing with bikes, and found I really like them (more then Jump infantry lately).

Here is a crazy idea I've been thinking about - and I'm a little torn.

Well, either way here is the "base" of the list (same either way)

x6 Space Marine Bikes (as Troops)
Full squad of 7 bikes, w/ 2 meltaguns
Attack Bike w/ Multimelta
Sergent w/ Combi-Melta
[The idea here is to combat squad these troops up. The 5 'plain' bikes will go for objectives and do their best to hold. T5 helps, and the 5+ Jink save is always nice. 3+ armor aint bad neither!
The other squad - Sarge, 2 Melta guys, and the attack bikes - are all very mobile hunter-killer arrays that can take down near anything. Go for the armored targets first.]

Here is where things change:
Either go "Ranged" w/

x2 Attack Bike Squads
- x3 attack bikes w/ Multi-Melta
[These squads are small, but fierce. With 2 wounds each, they will survive a bit longer.]

a Master of the Forge
On Bike
w/ Thunder Hammer & Conversion Beamer
[Since this is very much a shooting army, I thought it would be best to get more long ranged template weapons. If someone gets too close, the Digital Thunder Hammer can have a word with him. (that word, is KLANG!) Again, very tough. And like the whole army, very agile.]

a Chapter Master
On Bike
w/ Artificer Armor, Power Fist, Storm Shield, Digital Weapons and Hellfire Rounds
[This guy here is a beast. Strength 8, Toughness 5, 3 attacks, and a 2+ 3++ (5+ cover from Jink) and 3 wounds. He is one tough guy to crack. Went with power fist over thunder hammer to fit points better. Has his Orbital Bombardment shot, plus those Hellfire rounds out of his bike.]

Or go "Melee"

Kor'sarro Khan
on Moondraken
[The Khan is rather good, with his Instant Death weapon, his contagious Furious Charge and Hit&Run. Plus, makes the army out-flank very well.]

a Space Marines Chaplain
on Bike
w/ Digital Weapons
[Now, combo this guy the close-combat squad will be a force to be reckoned with. Contagious Fearlessness, and re-rolls to attack on charges (which is more often, thanks to Hit&Run) - and those re-rolls spill into Hammer of Wrath attacks]

and a Command Squad
on bikes, & Company Standard
w/ 1 Apothecary
w/ 4 Veterans w/ Power Fist, Storm Shield and Bolt Pistol
[Huge damage potential w/ the Power Fists. Very survivable with the Storm Shields, and the FNP. combo these guys with the two above and things get interesting]

-Alternate Melee-
Instead of the Command Squad:

x3 Techmarine
On Bike
w/ Power Weapon (axe?), and Servo Harness
[These guys are beasts - Fast, and the Servo Harness gives a good number of very poweful attacks]

Either Way:

Since everyone is on Bikes, everyone has Hammer of Wrath. That is an initiative 10 attack - one free blow to everyone that gets into melee.

There is enough melta around that any vehicles or heavily armored troops will fall. There is a LOT of twin-linked bolter fire to make most hordes think twice about getting too close.

The anti-air comes from the multi-meltas. Yes, they'll need a 6 to hit, but so will everything without sky-fire. Since the whole army is Relentless, it'll be easy to get the chance to fire.

So, what do you all think I should do? Ranged? Melee? (alternate melee?)

Well, thanks everyone!

I dabbled with a White Scars army briefly, and a few things I found effective, Kor'sarro Khan in a command squad equipped with power lances and an attached chaplain, furious charge from the khan, +1S from lances, reroll hits from chaplain, devastating on the charge. Also a master of the forge on bike with conversion beamer is awesome, now that you can premeasure, use the bike to move 12" backwards from whatever you want to shoot and get a nice powerful shot, a great way to get a really good weapon without using up heavy support slots etc.

Not to mention the re-rolls from the chaplain on the Hammers of Wrath as well. A nice pile of shots at inish 10 that may help thin enemy numbers.
The problem is that command squads are /so/ expensive - they eat up so many points I wanna spend elsewhere.

Kirsten

they are expensive yeah, but with everyone on bikes, and with the apothecary, you can keep them safe until they make the charge, you could always screen them with something cheap like scout bikers too

Well, looks like my friend has come up with an idea. "Maximum Strength & AP2" Melee attacks. He thinks this is the best idea since Combat Squads. But I'm not as convinced.

Wanna run this past you all, see what you think.

Kor'sarro Khan w/ Moondrakken

Chaplain, on Bike [no other upgrades]

x3 Techmarine
- On Bike, w/ Servo Harness & Thunder Hammer
[Bike dude, 3 s8 ap2 attacks. Flamer. "Twin-linked Plasma Pistol", bolt pistol, and twin-linked bolters.]

Command Squad on Bikes
- x1 Apothecary
- x4 Veterans w/ x2 Power Fists & Storm Shield
[3 s8 ap2 attacks. 3+ 3++ w/ the Storm Shields. Plus the twin-linked bolters.]

x6 Space Marine Bike Squads [As Troops]
- x3 Bikes (2 w/ Melta Gun)
- x1 Attack Bike w/ Multi-Melta
- x1 Sarge Bike, w/ Power Fist
[Close-combat w/ Power Fist, and closer ranged w/ melta weapons. High numbers for objective games. Minimum men to count as a troop.]

So, Khan + Techmarines + Chaplain + Command Squad go on a merry murder spree.

10 bikes, FNP - four guys up front have 3+ Invul (plus Jinks)
That means 10 Hammer of Wrath attacks at Initiative 10
4 s4 ap3 (potentially Instant Death) attacks at initiative 5
3 s4 ap- attacks at initiative 4
3 s6 ap4 attacks at initiative 4
and 21 s8 ap2 attacks at initiative 1
All of this +1 strength, and re-rolls to attack on the charge.
- and thanks to Hit&Run, there is potentially a charge every round.

Thank you.
Not sure what I wanna do - that melee combo does sound fun/scary... but its so points intensive.

argh.... not sure if want!

Okay been tooling around and here is the latest iteration:

Kor'Sarro Khan on Moondrakkan [WarLord]
Space Marine Chaplain on Bike
Command Squad on Bikes
x1 Apothecary
x4 Veterans w/ Bolt Pistol, Lightning Claw & Storm Shield

They chose Lightning Claws, cause with the chaplain it becomes re-roll to Hit, and re-roll to Wound.
This squad is death on two wheels. Hit&Run + Furious Charge + Litanies. Feel No Pain + Storm Shields. What is not to like?
For the same points I could swap the Lightning Claws to a Power Weapon - and get +1 attack on the Veterans.

[x3] Space Marine Bike Squad
x5 Normal Bikes
x2 Meltagun Bikers
x1 Sarge w/ Power Weapon
x1 Attack Bike w/ Multi-Melta
+ Techmarine on Bike
w/ Power Weapon & Servo Harness

The idea is to combat squad the bike units - 5 plain + Techmarine go objective babysitting, while the MeltaDudes+Sarge+Attack Bike go on a merry murder spree. Melta to take down tanks and Terminators, twin-linked bolters for anything else. Could swap the Techmarine to the murder team, but I think he's a great addition to the objective sitters (bolstered defenses maybe, but the array of goodies on that Harness make him quite desirable)

[x2] Attack Bike Squad
x3 Attack Bikes w/ Multi-Melta

These two squads are a little fragile, but also pack quite a punch. Their extra wound helps make up for the lessened numbers.

Scout Bike Squad
x6 Normal Scout Bikes w/ Cluster Mines
x3 Scout Bikes w/ Grenade Launchers (+Cluster Mines)
x1 Scout Bike Sarge w/ Combi-Meltagun

These guys get that scout move, plus a good number of other desirable things - such as inexpensiveness. The three grenades and combi-melta are to give them a little more kick. But more often then nod they'll be lobbing their Krak grenades.

Well, that's my 2500 as it sits today. Thoughts?
