It's hardly a solution is it? Maybe I should go steal me a house cause I can't afford one. It's just another form of theft, in one respect worse than others, as it's your home as well as belongings being stolen.

Yes but they use the justification that it is empty so isn't really stealing. It's like when you go past a car show room at night, it's closed so you aren't really stealing the cars you are just squatting (in) them
