I like the pinkie pie outfit, hell I wanna make a fluttershy sweet lolita outfit some day. Some of these are really neat, but I have never been for humanizing ponies to any great level. I like it when they stay ponies, but cool cosplays can be a lot of fun.

Well you've got to remember I already go to anime cons and cosplay so its a small step for me, but it's one of those cartoons where they've put stuff (http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_allusions) in that goes over the head of the primary audience for older viewers, and more so once they realised the extent of the fan base, and on top of that it's quite good...

examples

Twilight's plan to build a fake town is a reference to the Mel Brooks film Blazing Saddles

Discord is inspired by John de Lancie's popular character Q from the second Star Trek television series. After the part was written, de Lancie was contacted to provide the voicework for Discord. Q and Discord share a fondness for cruel games, amusing themselves at the expense of others, occasional use of rhymes, finger snapping to use their powers, and a white flash accompanied by a similar chime-like sound effect signifying the use of their powers.

I know I'm 5 pages late to the party but I'll add my commentary:
1. I always appreciate cosplays where more than half the women are ones I'd actually consider sleeping with. Shallow, sure, but with so many cosplay sites out there of fat, ugly women cosplaying really poorly, you have to appreciate some effable cosplayers.

2. Some of these pictures look like they're from GenCon but there's a huge problem: the girls have corsets that fit. That....that just doesn't happen at GenCon....or at least I thought it didn't. How do I miss the hot cosplayers at GenCon?

3. So...putting on a t-shirt with a symbol = cosplay? Does that mean when I wear my Green Lantern Tee I'm cosplaying? Gak. I hope not.

The problem I have with cosplay is you may as well have a big fudging sign over your head that says " I am a geek "

And for those of us who go to games day and don't dress up .......ever, we get tarnished with the same brush.

I am not a geek, most get on my nerves, with their abilty to think their fudging right about everything. I just happen to like painting and playing with toy soldiers.

The only thing worse than dressing up at games day is the wankers who then walk around acting like they really are a commissar and think its an excuse to eyeball you. Do that and your looking for some trouble in my world.

Yes her costume was nice.

Cosplay is a funny thing. On one hand people should be able to do whatever they want to have fun, on the other hand people watching tend to want to not have to poke their eyeballs out afterall. If you don't have the skills to make a decent costume you should buy one, because nothing is worse than a really badly mad outfit.

I have conflicting opinions on the issue to be honest. On one hand I'm a firm believer in people having a right to do what they like for fun, and that includes cosplay. On the other hand I strongly believe that if you are going to do something you need to do it right, and that means being as accurate to the original as possible in the case of cosplay (and historical reenactment). This includes body type.

A bad outfit is a bad outfit ("you'll look better if you're a size 14 wearing a size 14 than squeezing into a 12"), and I'll never be able to cosplay as many of my favourite characters 'cause I'm just too darn skinny, but what bothered me was regardless of the quality of her outfit the female cosplayers were only being judged on their looks, not the quality of the costume.
So I disagree partly with EG in that I don't care if the player doesn't look like Superman, so long as their costume is nice. And even then, if they're having fun I don't really care that much either way, and I'm probably a little jealous of them having the confidence to do it!

Oh, and if you're thinking "hey, Gotthammer? You seem pretty confident, what gives wtih lacking it?" Firstly, consider that everyone has their insecureties about themselves, and if I dressed up for Games Day (did consider making a Striking Scorpion outfit) I know I'd end up splashed across every 40k blog and forum with the sole point of discussion whether or not you all want to **** me or not.
Creepy and intimidating.

Dude, you are involved in a MLP cosplay discussion on an internet forum for people who like collecting, painting and playing with small toy soldiers in futuristic and fantasy settings. The fact that any (never mind all) of those things are intelligible to you mean you are geek, or at least some sort of nerd (I forget what the difference is). The first step to overcoming our problem is admitting we have one.

As to the cosplaying thing in general, I'm all for it, good and bad. If you are hot and want to dress up in clothing the arouses nerds, so be it. If you are neck beard who thinks wearing a cardboard box covered in tin foil makes him look like Bender, more power to you, I'll enjoy mocking you and getting a smug sense of satisfaction from knowing that there is someone lower than me on the food chain. Live and let live I say.

Oh, and TDA wins the prize for best ever cosplay in the history of the world. EVER. Making a life size replica of a battlewagon is damned impressive.

I am tempted to make my next birthday a cosplay event, it would be glorious.

The last one right?
"Iron Man! Making sure that the World's dress clothing is pressed properly!"

Not sure if cosplay, or just child abuse ...

I'd say it's good 'red neck' parenting. I mean, it's padded, wheeled, properly restraints the child, with the bonus of keeps the child's hand to themselves. It's a 20 dollar kiddie stroller that also can be used to carry out that "must have it" lifesized Spiderman statue that you picked up for a steal as all the dealers where starting to close down.:)

Can't it be both?

Trust me, the children are the annoying ones.

I was wondering whether that would be good, the trailer looked interesting. I may be able to do games later in the week, I'll let you know.

Yey. Do want more game.

It's very good! And quite grim toward the end.

Did you make that just to prove to your point?

Dude, you are involved in a MLP cosplay discussion on an internet forum for people who like collecting, painting and playing with small toy soldiers in futuristic and fantasy settings. The fact that any (never mind all) of those things are intelligible to you mean you are geek, or at least some sort of nerd (I forget what the difference is). The first step to overcoming our problem is admitting we have one.

Nope, Type screw physics into google you'll see it's top of the autocomplete

And it's a problem why?:D

Wait. Wait. Wait. GOTHAMMER IS A GIRL?!?!?!?!

Mind. Blown.

Had no idea.

The off-topic threads repeats are spilling out onto the the greater forum...

That's cool, I'm the 1st to admit I come across as a bit of a prick sometimes. I seem to be making a habit of putting my size 10s in my mouth on the forums atm.
Easy to take offence on a forum when nobody can tell if you're been sarcastic, wouldn't lose sleep about it...

Correctly controlling their spawn for the courtesy of others is another option, our lass had to prevent me drowning somebody's "little darling" yesterday....
