Get the Black Library to publish a Jes Goodwin Eldar/Dark Eldar art book

Jes Goodwin mentioned at Games Day that he had enough Eldar and Dark Eldar artwork to fill a book for each if BL gave the go ahead for it. This has set some of our devious little fan minds whirring at Warseer and we thought it would be nice to encourage Black Library to do this by sending them some letters.

The letter (drafted by silverstu):

Dear Black Library,
I would like to register my interest in the publication of an art book covering Eldar and Dark Eldar by Jes Goodwin. Jes’ sketchbooks and illustrations, from the occasional pieces published online on in White Dwarf are simply stunning. As a fan of Jes’ work and a collector of these factions a collection of his illustrations would be a highly desirable item in itself. Such a book would be an invaluable background source book coming from the man who’s creative vision has shaped these elements of the warhammer 40k universe.
I sincerely hope this is something the Black Library, in collaboration with Mr Goodwin, would publish in the future,

Did you see how good and bad a$$ his sketch for the Warpsmith was in this months White Dwarf? It was brilliant. Which was a surprise, as I think the model is Nagash level bad. It is made worse by how good the design idea was.

There are a lot of eldar fans, craftworlders are usually one of the best selling armies after SM, sometimes dropping behind IG when they get a new codex and Dark Eldar have been phenomenally successful as well, so one would hope there is considerable interest in the idea. Copies of the last JG art book The Gothic and the Eldritch go for decent sums on eBay apparently, someone reported paying nearly one hundred USD for one recently.

I just wish that the Eldar would look as chic as the Dark Eldar! They look bulky and terrible!

They also have a lower armour save on average.:p I don't agree though, the Craftworld aesthetic is supern and has been really quite lithe and elegant even back in the early nineties. A lot of the character sculpts and even some of hte harlequins look good by modern standards. The guardians less so. The Aspects are a mixed back. Some of the various metal Dire Avengers are lovely, the MKI Banshees are still nice but the Scorpions are a little less impressive. Some of the other sculpts like Warp Spiders have not changes since their introduction and while they could use an update they still look nice.

Dark Eldar have the advantage of being revamped all at the same time with a more overarching aesthetic and then having the sprues designed for cross kit compatibility. It is an amazing range and easily one of the best model ranges full stop, not just limited to GW. If you look at the improvement from the metal eldar dreadnought to the plastic I have no doubt when eldar get a big new release it will be spectacular.

Can you imagine raising a hand against The Goodwin at a Games Day? You'd be lynched. Plus, you know, security. Then there is the fact tht if you did kill him I would do unspeakable things to your broken body before dumping it in a ditch somewhere.:p

Security would struggle as it's minimal, and the crowds round a potential lynching would probably be substantial.

Been after a book of Goodwin's work since I was about eleven. Not just his Eldar stuff; all the amazing things he did with Adeptus Titanicus, not to mention being the man who designed the Space Marines.

Sadly not, dear lady.

It's one of very few art books I desperately want that I haven't been able to acquire. A new version of his work would be amazing. I did actually email them a while back, asking if they were going to reprint any, and the polite but firm reply was "Why are you bothering us, insect?" :(

I hope we get more than a few people asking for a new Goodwin book so it happens. I mean, seriously:
