I'm not normally one who rants about GW pricing beyond basic grumbling that prices rise, but that's the way it works they're a business they're here to make money.
That said however i do feel a little betrayed by forgeworld today £50 for a space marine on a scenic base, yes he's a primarch yes i've wanted them since they arrived in the lore, as i'm sure everyone of us has, no i didn't expect to have to pay at least £900 to own a set 18 figures.
Now betrayed may seem a bit personal a word to use for my personal dealer of plastic and resin crack. We're not friends, we're not family, but here's the thing i have invested a fair proportion of my life to this mythos. I bought rogue trader on the day of release after months of white dwarf hype and i was not disappointed. I have played every incarnation of this game and enjoyed them all to greater or lesser extents, but it was the background that has kept me hooked. That is why i feel betrayed because this price is playing on the fact that i have bought into this story and i will pay any price to have these coveted figures that I've always wanted.

But i can't, i really want them, the sculpt is fantastic, it is better than i imagined it could be. I mean who of us have looked at the photo and thought "that's not Angron ", no that is ANGRON! I have a fairly well paying job and i have some expensive forgeworld toys a thunderhawk and a couple of titans, plus a plethora of smaller stuff, but i also have a family and home and £50 is a lot of money for a space marine who is essentially going to sit in my cabinet and gather dust.

So I've got that off my chest how do you feel about it?

Wow. You want some cheese with that whine? If the model is too expensive, just don't buy it.

That is what I am going to do.

Plus I doubt that any of the Forge World Horus Heresy stuff will be cheap.

So will not be buying any of that as well.

Man up.:p It's a very big model with three whole resin space marines on a large, two piece scenic base for fiffty pounds. Three resin MKIV marines from FW are worth £13.80 on their own. I think it is well worth it given what you get and who it is, I've no doubt the rules will be rather impressive. It's also one ofthe finer sculpts FW have produced in my opinion, it just exudes menace and brutality.

It won't look at detailed, but I'm sure you could probably convert up a somewhat decent version of it for pretty cheap.

I think that for what you get the price is reasonable in most cases. There's a couple of smaller products where the cost:amount ratio is a tad skewed, but such is GW I guess. The majority of any gripe I have with Forge World products is the postage although honestly I'm not really awake enough to have a viable alternative to offer.

You get what you pay for really.

The only thing that miffed me is not the prices, but the sheer amount of new stuff FW are releasing in such a short space of time. I want it all, and I want it now :)

Like I said elsewhere, what were you really expecting, a space marine primarch for £10 in a blister pack? It was always going to be an elaborate release with a price tag to reflect it. And it is priced roughly the same as other models of an equivilent size that FW do, such as the Warhammer Forge monsters. I am not by any means a fan of everything that GW do, particularly with regards to its pricing policies, but I think that some are still stuck in the heady days of the 1980's, when a packet of crisps cost 6p.

Nah, not really. I expected from the beginning it would be very expensive. Would I like a heresy era army? of course! they are truly some amazing miniatures, but for me personally it is far far outside and beyond my budget! Look on the bright side though - they'll probably be some really cool project logs to see coming out of this and I can't wait to see what those that can afford it do with this new HH game :)

Wow ***** slapped

Anyway yes i was expecting it to be expensive but i was expecting £35 at that price i wouldn't even have blinked because as eldargirl says itdoes just exude the menace and brutality that is Angron. It is just no longer an automatic purchase for me.

Keep talking yourself out of it, eventually you will buckle and crack out the card, FW knows this, we know this and you know this. :) BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD.

his ears are on his neck

also it makes is so that everyone dosnt have agaron as his SM champion. frankly it would be less impressive if every man and his dog used agaron for a SM or CSM commander :/

Surely the title should have been ANGryON?

Hobbies centered around collecting are always expensive. But Warhammer is nothing compared to other hobbies I've seen. Try complaining about a $50 figure to someone who just spent $260 figure on the latest installment of masterpiece transformers collection. I have a tiny little collection of transformers from the original 86' movie, and whether vintage or modern, action figure collecting is far more brutal.

And to be honest, if I was the one scultping the model I'd have no problem charging $50 bucks for a model people will only have to buy once. Its not like you need to make a squad of them.

Whilst I am not too bothered about this particular price for this particular model (it does look great), it does seem that now FW have buckled and chosen to do the heresy, they have decided to slap on all the bling they can and charge the highest price they can get away with. Both this guy and the book could easily have come as a lower price basic model within reach of more hobbyists and then a fully kitted out collectors version.

At the end of the day I am more mad at myself for continuing to buy GW models no matter how stupid the prices get.

Well they are a little low, but not his neck. Also that isn't a neck, its a brutality facilitator.

People are only defending the pricing because they have been brainwashed with the constant pocket rape over the last 20 years.

People have long justified to themselves that it's reasonable in their minds for a $100 character model.

Its the Primarchs. They can charge whatever they want.

To be fair though, there have been runs of unofficial Primarch models by independent sculptors that range from $60-85 on Ebay due to their limited status.

I wouldn't imagine a model that isn't a limited run being that expensive, but here we are.

Somebody made a joke comment on another thread along the lines of: "Newsflash: Luxury Items cost lots of money. More as this story develops." Rings especially true.

£50 is excessive. But no one would force you to buy all 18 (19 - guess A and O will cost £100 hahaha) you could just stay true to 1 legion or show sense and shop within your means.

Tbh I won't drop £70 on the first of probably 10 books. But I will get the Memsahib to get it for my Christmas present...
