Just a thought, and to be honest I'm sure there must be a perfectly reasonable explanation...but.....

Since it seems Forgeworld are getting some WD love with the Heresy, could it thus follow they are becoming a smidge more mainstream? I mean, consider also the Aeronautica book, which clearly lists when a given unit can be fielded in 40k, and which are Apocalypse only.

Seems to me that a rational step forward (given the almost certain healthy profit HH is about to bring in...) would be for them to produce (however sporadically) models for the Specialist Games? Perhaps not Epic, which seemingly hasn't worked before, but stuff like Necromunda?

Simple answer is they do.

The produce Aeronautica Imperalis (a highly underrated combat dogfighting game). It uses Epic size miniatures, and they also produce some EPic AA tanks to go with it

Tjhey also produce a lot of Gothic stuff.

Aeronautica Imperialis is awesome.

That's something I forgot from Games Day - someone asked about re-doing Necromunda or other specialist games since the exclusive model this year is an enforcer. The answer was a no, he's just a one off and they have no plans as it would detract too much from existing work with uncertain/limited sales in the end (reason a lot of Epic stuff is OOP).

I think with the go-ahead to do the Heresy, Forgeworld has "grown up".

By that I mean they have made it past their awkward experimental phase, and figured out what folks want broadly and how to sell it to them for the highest margin the market will bear.

I wouldn't be surprised to see character busts, epic, terrain, and non wfb/40k side games disappear forever.

I hear ya! Epic was and still is really my favourite Games Workshop game. Sadly, the only option for it (and many other Specialist Games) is third party stuff, hell it was the only way I got myself my epic necron army. Would be nice if FW did the Necrons, sisters and Dark eldar though - they did an amazing job with the Tau and Grey Knights. I also really liked Battlefleet Gothic and the stuff they did for that...a lot of that stuff seems missing from the site now these days. Sadly as BigRed says - itll likely all vanish over time.

They won't drop terrain, they are just making it differently now, the RoB board pieces and whatnot.

I agree, the terrain is still popular and I cant see that going anywhere.

That'd be sad, then they'll need a new bit to do all the specialist stuff.

They already have for the most part, the RoB aren't really the same as the stuff the used to do.

They dropped the old terrain because it was hugely expensive to produce and they were looking at huge price increases. They are now making he hollow resin terrain instead and ther was some talk of reintroducing old terrain pieces as hollow cast in some capacity.

Re: Epic, apparently at its peak it consisted of around 2% of GWs sales. Hence the lack of continued support.

meh if it's profitable why not still make it, that's 2% more than without.

Hope they do, some of the old terrain pieces were amazing.

It would be nice to see some new Necromundan gangers though...

They do still make it, it's in the SG section.:p They just don't support it with updates.

FWs epic range was not profitable so they don't make it anymore.

Ah fair enough. there's no point making a loss on it.

Clearly terrain is popular - otherwise lunatics would not be spending $300+ on obsolete FW road sets - FFS!
