Thought this might be of general interest to some people over here...or not...

Tom Mason, who does a bunch of work for MERCS and other companies is looking to expand on his line of miniatures:

Needs $5K for initial funding, and there is $1631 in the kiddy already. There are two additional stretch goals which are already in the que for after the initial goal is met.

For the duration of the Kickstarter Campaign, he is offering free worldwide shipping from his existing figures as well (Promo Code: KICKSTARTER).

Now to answer a few of the more common questions...

They will be cast in metal.

They are 32mm in size...whatever that may or may not mean to you based on the companies you frequent. A better answer can be seen here:

Since it is all part of the same line (the pilot figure is removing the same style of helmet as the male trooper above is wearing) they should be comparably sized. Makes them a good fit for a few of the different not-so Grim-dark sci-fi figures out there.

The initial Buy-in levels put it at $30 per squad. Right now, if the goal is met - that squad will be 1 Team Leader, 4 Squaddies and a Drone thing (4 different sculpts)...which to be honest looks a bit wonkie. Should the first stretch goal get met - that will swap out two of the male figures which are duplicates with 2 unique female figures (6 unique sculpts). If the $15K goal is met he will also do up a heavy support figure for a total of 7 unique sculpts and 7 miniatures in a squad for $30. There is also the potential for a recon type figure should we get these first two out of the way:

There is at least one recon specialist in the upcoming stretch goals.

Overseas shipping is $5 for the Kickstarter Pledge Shipments.

You can see some of his past work on his workbench blog:

Think that about covers it.

Looks like Tom decided to sort of shake the Etch-a-Sketch on the rewards layout...

So, for the base goal...you get the teams with 6 unique sculpts. He moved the two girls from the first stretch goal into the base goal to round out that team completely.

He also added two civilians as options...which as far as I can tell are also part of the base goal. They are sort of upper crust future civilians, so they should come in handy to be hostages or other non-combatants in games like Infinity.

Picture sort of explains all that.

The new stretch goals then are $10K for the Heavy Support Figure:

And $15K for the "sniper"

Like the "sniper" though to me - it doesn't really say sniper. Maybe an anti-armor specialist or something along those lines. Just doesn't look like he will be doing too much sneaking about.

At $20K there is an additional goal - calling it a Counsel Liaison. Some sort of Luetenent or some such. No concept art on that, so I am not sure if it will be more like a civilian-military liaison or a military-civilian liaison.

More details can be found in his post on the KS site:

I can't help but feel that this Kickstarter is really unfortunately timed. It's competing against Bombshell Babes in the same timeframe, and it's come directly after Reaper and Relic Knights ended. Not to mention Redbox, Sedition Wars, Dreadball, etc before it. I think people will be Kickstartered out.

I do hope he reaches his funding as I would like for him to be able to continue to develop his line, and as a gesture of good faith I am going to drop some money for the male 'founder' model as a Black Diamond civilian to protect in RK. I'll check back to see how it's doing in a week or so and may up my pledge then, but for the moment I'm happy where I'm at.

To be honest, I don't really understand the difference between the 'Alpha' and 'Beta' levels, as the Beta level stuff seems to include all the Alpha stuff and is the same price, so why would you just go for Alpha?

I actually really hope that this one starts to pick up. I messaged him about the founders and he added a new level so that people could buy just them if they wanted, so I've hopped on that and am buying both. He's a lovely guy and deserves for this to reach it's funding.
