I want one but reckon most things i would want to levitate would be too heavy. don't think it could hold a 40K tank.

Twelve ounces is a fair amount of weight. The base size on the ground isn't convenient to size for play on the board, nor is the price right yet or the base battery operated. :D It is nice to see it is coming though. When the price hits about $20 and there is a battery option I could see using it to float my fliers but not before.

So much easier to do with a few rare earth magnets and some know-whit-all about polarity. Pretty cool though, I might do this to a jetbike!

Unless you plan on spinning said jetbike quickly, Earnshaw's Theorem (http://www.ru.nl/hfml/research/levitation/diamagnetic/levitation_possible/) kind of stops you cold

More wondering how I can use this in film projects...actual floating aliens...hmmm

Align the magnets as such (Example on a hoverbike)
Base: Model:
+ + + + + +
+ - + + + +
+ - + + + +
+ + + + + +

The magnets ringing the outside should be smaller than the ones in the middle. You could probably simplify this and play with it to get different heights the model is hovering at.

Or something along those lines. I've managed to do it before, it's not terribly hard, and impractical for an army, but could work for a one off or select models.

did you even READ the link I posted? do you have visual proof of what you did? or did you just go 'hmm I'll just try to debunk it using the Dunning-Kruger effect'?

I'm going to finish it tonight, aligning the magnets was a serious pain, but it should work!

HAH nope, apparently I didn't. However, fishing line is amazingly transparent when pulled taught by opposing magnetism...
