So, trying to put together a new 1850pt list for 6th ed with IG and am looking to build a list centered around the concept of a "Sperrverband" or Blocking detachment, that is, a force used to blunt a the thrust of an enemy offensive while other forces regroup to withdraw in good order or counterattack, typically composed of often the most experienced troops available with whatever extra guns they can grab/steal/requisition/find/etc along with engineering elements and some big gun support, and I'd like to try to make something fitting for a DKoK theme.

So, while not 100% fluffy for a Siege Regiment organizational structure, I'm looking at something like the following to best portray such a force with lots of carapace armored infantry because they look cool while still being generally all-comers capable, with some Forgeworld units included. The Veterans are going to be DKoK Grenadiers, the CCS similar models, and everything else likewise will also be DKoK models. Not much in terms of speed, maneuverability, armor or long range firepower, but lots of pain for any infantry units and isolated tanks.

HQ:

CCS, 4 Meltas, Carapace Armor

Elites:

2x Heavy Mortar

A bit more of an explanation would be nice if that's the way one feels. There's some anti-tank specialists, some anti-heavy infantry specialists, some anti-tank guns, some artillery support, some a damage-mitigation unit, and some disruption/assault elements, much different than a typical gunline, I figured it'd be something most people don't expect of an IG list personally without being ridiculously cheesy.
