Greetings gang. I'm still working on my tyranids currently, and hope to get some WIPPs of my dueling swarmlord soon, but in the mean time I figured I'd post some Necron's I painted earlier in the year.

A close-up of a triarch stalker, and my first attempts to make illuminated 'headlights'.

The stalker hanging out with a Annihilation Barge. I think I like the blue-hued look for the Tesla weapons, and will try to carry that through as I move onto the smaller projects.

My attempts to come up with a pattern which could make it look like living metal running across the hull. Typically I'm very tied to keeping patters following the topography of the model, thus this represents a huge departure from my usual attempts to pattern a large hull. That said, I am not entirely sold on the results. Any advice/criticism is welcome and appreciated.

Close up on some of the detail. It's hard to see but it was also and attempt to do OSL using the green command console. Again, tips and critiques welcomed.

Not so sure on the flier effects, but the stalker and barge are really nice.
I don't knoww hat i'd do with the flier. If its supposed to be metal running around it might be more fluid, less straight edged? If its supposed to be the vehicle "uncloaking" or changing colour, do more lighting and energy at the edges of the metal

This Necrosphinx is serving as my C'tan shard (is that legal?). I originally had plans to make conversions and 'necron-ify' it more, but I got too excited when the model came in, and just started assembling and painting it. I might not play fantasy but I think it's a great sculpt.

Detail on the genestealer he smooshed. A combination of water-effects and hot glue.

And just for fun, the tomb-stalker that still has not been fielded in a game!

A Canoptek meeting. This was taken before I got my wraiths.

FOCUS! At least the base was captured.

And of course the wildly under appreciated belly. It was great that they put the time to have such detail on the model, and even if you can't see it while mounted, I wanted to make sure it was painted.

I like the idea of having different glows depending on the model's weaponry, adds some fun variety to the army.
I'd agree the "Living Metal" on the flier's a bit too jagged, maybe try painting the model black w/ glow as per normal, but add subtle metallic "veins" to it afterwards, like there are barely visible liquid-metal "arteries" visible under the "skin"?
People might object to the Sphinx-as-C'tan if you pick powers for it that are dependent on its base size - for instance, the Lord of Fire power would effectively have a couple of inches added to its radius. Wouldn't be a big deal for the other powers, though, like that redeployment one or the shooty ones (and it's a very cool model!). It would also be an awesome stand-in for a Tomb Stalker!
You've got some nice Necron terrain there, like the look of the glowing hieroglyphs.

Yeah I like your painting :). Personally love the necron flyer and tomb stalker, I built a stalker a couple years back and boy was it fun (not )
The base is also very nice on the stalker. Good job and keep em coming.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I typically would not run the c'tan with lord of flame, or GoD, so hopefully it wouldn't confer any unfair advantage. I always have the old c'tan as a back-up.
The flier could use a lot of work, and I appreciate the suggestions. It may not be rehabilitatable! I'll probably have a radical departure for the next one; after all, can't an Overlord collect equipment from many tomb worlds? =)
The heiroglyphics were from a small obelisk which I picked up for $4 from a gypsy store. It's solid rock, so I really didn't want it falling over, hence the Styrofoam base.

No.
Sorry.
You have to observe base size, at least slightly. Most of GW's base size choices are based at least partly on balance. I don't think any TO will allow this, and I probably wouldn't play with an ENORMOUS HONKING C'Tan shard, even in a friendly game. I'd recommend using the necrosphinx as a tomb stalker instead and getting something else to serve as a C'Tan shard.
Other than that, your models are very good!

Sorta, base size cannot be smaller than standard size but i would be fine with it bigger base but a bigger target.

Great models man! I suggest have a more fluid look to the living metal on the flier. Have the black like dotted in the silver around the edges of the areas you want to look animated. I hope that made sense xD

Hmmm.. I'm actually not exactly sure what you mean. Do you have any visual examples? Do you mean creating abigous borders between the black and the silver via Kirby-Dots?

I forgot I had taken some shots of the smooshed genestealer base. My Nids didn't appreciate this shot.

Not nearly as focused as I'd like
