View Full Version : Clarification of close combat rules?

I'm trying to read through the mini-rules and there's quite a lot that just isn't clear, so I'm after clarification on a couple of points:

1. Are all attacks made as if using the highest strength/AP weapon? I.e. I have a pistol and a power fist, both attacks are made at I1, but would both wounds/save rolls using the power fists strength and AP, or should they be split between weapons?

2. The rules mention that models get +1 for having a 2nd close combat weapon; but does this also apply when a unit has 2 close combat weapons by default? I.e. assault marines have 2 CCW's, so do they get 2 attacks as per the stat line, or a 3rd because they have a 2nd CCW? What about characters that only come with 2 CCWs?

3. The pile-in moves imply that everyone moves in at each Initiative level, but I'm assuming it's only the models at that level move?

You choose which of your weapons to attack with each round of combat, and all of your attacks are made with that weapon.

2. The rules mention that models get +1 for having a 2nd close combat weapon; but does this also apply when a unit has 2 close combat weapons by default? the bonus for having 2 CCWs is never included in a model's statline, so if a model either comes armed with two of them by default, or you buy an extra ccw, they will get a bonus attack in addition to however many they have on their profile.

3. The pile-in moves imply that everyone moves in at each Initiative level, but I'm assuming it's only the models at that level move?
Each model gets to pile in 3" at its own initiative step, taking into account bonuses or penalties from equipment or special rules.

Thanks, that's what I thought :)

Is there any justification for assault marines getting an extra baseline attacks over regular marines? Just better trained?

assault marines do not have an extra attack. You are thinking about Veterans. All veterans have an additional baseline attack over standard marines.

Unless it's a Deff Dread, apparently. >.>
