I know it made sense to have all the painting threads moved into one place, but I for one don't like it.
I think the painting and modelling side of our hobby is just as important as General discussion, News and rumours and army lists. I know I can easily scroll down and look at the Hobby section. But it's so far down and I don't bother or just forget its there.

I preferred it when each "lounge" had its own hobbie section and I think we have seen a drop in activity in those threads since the move.

Yep I am old and don't like change, if it ain't broke don't try and fix it.

I am proberly in the minority but I want the 40k hobby section back where it belongs.

Would it be a massive stretch to put links to it in both places? Then you get the advantages of them being together, but they're also more visible to people that don't frequent that part of the board?

I detect the clammy touch of warseer here. They stash their hobby projects at the bottom of their forum pages too.

I want it back in the 40k group too. I keep forgetting about it. I've been coming here for a few years and muscle memory tells me where I go.

Are we really complaining about scrolling now?

Deadlift - you are SO STRONG - and I'm totally scrawny. Surely your mouse finger is much more developed than mine.

Really the reason I did it, is that I want folks to have the opportunity to look at all the different hobby stuff in one place. There is lots of cool hobby stuff from other systems there, and I felt like it was causing myopia and folks were only looking at hobby stuff from their own gaming systems, and missing out on all kinds of great conversions and painting ideas "just one forum over".

Not complaining about scrolling it's just that it is out of sight out of mind. I go when I remember to.

It's like how the other hobby stuff was out of sight out of mind.

I, for one, welcome our new scrolled-down masters.

I agree that it's more convenient to have all the painting and modeling threads in one place. Many of the techniques that can be used in one game can be used in another, and pretty models are pretty models, regardless of system. We'll get used to it.

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm from you Big Red :).
Please don't pick on me. I do think I have a valid point though. Judging by the few responses (those of us able to actually log in :) )
Why not have a poll and let the posters decide ?

Three votes

1. Keep it how it is.

2. Go back to the way it was.

3. Put it in both sections.

I'd vote 3. I do like that they are all together now which is why I hadn't said anything yet, but it couldn't hurt to have them in both.

I vote move Hobby and Project up to the top, make people scroll down to 40k!

That started out as being sarcastic, but now I've written it, I actually think it would be a pretty decent idea...

I think we will see / have seen some hobby related topics creeping into the 40k general section too.

We could see it happening more and more as kind of protest posts ;)

In fact lets invert the forum and have an ironic oubliette at the top!!

But seriously, While I can see the logic of grouping it together, someone new or unfamiliar with it who just comes for 40k or WH or FOW isn't going to see it.

Could we also have just generic sci fi/fantasy hobby boards? I've had a few requests.

FOR THE OUBLIETTE!

Don't forget, on the new forum layout, you can permanantly collapse the board you don't want. I've collapsed all the Flames, Warmahordes and Spec games and it brings it much higher

I think it makes more sense to have them clustered together, you can just go from one section to the other quite easily.

I just hit the "New Posts (http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post)" button and it shows up every thread that's had posts made in it - much faster than looking through each of the seven billion sub-forums (which I think a large number of could be condensed for ease of viewing).

But if that won't happen a generic sci-fi and fantasy painting thread would be good.

I'm with the PTB on this one, makes more sense to have all the hobby stuff together. Though if we are going down that route, we should also put the fluff and rule threads together as well.

But we had that before, it was to the right near the search function.....oh right yeah....

Sounds like a plan. So basically we can collapse anything were not interested so we can bring the hobby page closer to the top of our home forum page ?

I haven't even been told anything about the board changes! And I'm a mod!

I like that the hobbies are together, because it lets me see a lot within easy clicking, but it seems like I am visiting it less and less. So I guess I will just have to collapse everything I don't care about, but still, it is way far down there for being such an important part of the hobby
