Hi all,

I am about to include some imperial guard allies to my Thousand Sons army. Now, I want to paint them into spireguards in order to fit the theme. Could anyone who read Battle of the Fang tell me what they looks like?

Thanks

red great goats with gold brocade and frogging with gold, silver visored helms.

pretty much sums it up. so unless GW does plastic greatcoat guard, its red cadians with greenstuff helmets and visors.

These guys (http://wargamesfactory.com/webstore/alien-suns/shock-troops-sci-fi-greatcoat-troopers) might be a good starting point, good variety of heads too.

and as the wolves led the burning of prospero a great EAAHWWWW went up from the spires and the legions of thousand sons great goats led the charge against the wolves. many mortals would remember this day as goat battled wolf for the fate of prospero!

Thanks, but is this the appearance of spireguard during Horus Heresy? Should it be different from those who invaded Fenris in Battle of the Fang? From what I know, no one but Astartes were warped to Planet of Sorcerers, so the red-goat spireguard might be extinct already. The recruits for current spireguard are from slaves living on the Planet of Sorcerers, so I wonder if there is any different between these two infantries?

hehehe i guess they were the bridge guards and were troll slayers too hahahaha

and the quote i missed/forgot to put in last night
"he was a young man, in gold frogged, red coat and silver helm" from prospero burns. kaspar hauser telling of his 1st thread cutting....... minutes after landing on prospero....... damn savages.

oh battle of the fang.... my bad.

i imagine they would be pretty similar though the sorcerers of the 1ksons are set in their ways (hey ahriman, nice rubric.... that will stop the flesh change......... dust cant mutate LOL).

it would be pretty easy to do the frogging and brocade work with GS onto a cadian body. the problem as always with IG to IA conversions its the lack of plastic great coat legs.

the secret weapon ones are cool but i think they look a little short..... again not an issue if you can manipulate GS with any degree of skill (no seriously, a wedge of plasticard and a roll of GS to fill the gap between the torso and legs, just follow the curves and its cool).

the shako i would go more old school imperial army (the old plastic ones) ill post a pic in a bit. buit again its gonna be GS work and maybe some fancy paint work to get the scrollwork (is it filligree?sp?) on the heads.

I think that Steel Legion models would work perfectly.
