Angels of Redemption

Hello All. I said I wouldn't do it. I said I have enough models and should finish the ones I have before buying more... Sigh, why does it never work like that? After seeing the dark vengeance box and thought, goody goody goody! Being the reasonable calm person I brought two and have spent the weekend glueing them up

For chapter, I didn't want dark angels as the mono scheme bores me, as well as there already being a dark angel player in my gaming group. Yet I still wanted a Dark Angels style army so a successor chapter was the way forward. It was a very quick choice to land the angels of redemption, the half white half green, just looks so cool. This project log is to show off my mediocre painting skills as I infuriatingly fail to make a nice smooth white.

So finally... Pictures! To prepare in he build up of getting my DV box, I dig out some older space marine models I had to add into the army and painted them up, I though you might all be interested to view.

First plasmactical squad finished.
Squad contains the worlds most elaborate sergeant, who is the captain from the DV box with a head swop, in games he is only armed with a combi plasma, so his power sword is just an even more elaborate stick :)

Yeah, halving colour schemes makes me cry. So did the 1500 point Imperial Fist army that I did a while back, thank the gods that there was a unit of Templars in there.

How are you painting the white? In the past i've used two coats of Ulthuan Grey and then two coats of White Scar.

Snap fit terminators from the dark vengeance box that do not look like snap fit, the detail on these is ridiculous.

To paint my white I use the following method. Black undercoat, dheneb stone, ceramite white, Agrax earth shade, then another coat of ceramite white while leaving the recesses brown. Sometimes then final shade may get a second coat if it doesn't go on well enough.

Converted by splicing a standard ravenwing biker with the top half of the librarian from the DV boxset

Actually the librarians sword is the plastic one from the DV box, though it does look like the old metal one.

But that is boring and nothing new, the chaplain is the interesting thing.
He is the limited edition chaplain from the DV box with a head swap with the warriors of chaos skull head. I decided on a swap as I liked the original head so much! I wanted to keep it in my bits box for something better...

Finished my second DV terminator squad, the Sarg has been converted to have a fist as I usually run it as a 10 man squad and then combat so I get more elite slots.
