Well my brothers I picked up my copy of Dark Vengance today the chaos force will be added to my Night Lords while after alot of thinking I've decided that all the Dark Angel bits will go towards my new loyalist army.

So heres my first test mini for my ANGELS OF VENGENACE

So my brothers what do you think I know my painting skills suck but I'll take all the advice I can get.

Many thanks

More highlighting on the bright parts is essentially.

Speaking as someone with a large Deathwatch army, black is a pain in the backside colour to do. It's difficult to highlight, and it demands some bright contrast to avoid just being dull to look at.

I recommend bright/ contrasting colours for weapons, as well as careful highlighting of the eye lenses - the "face" is the area that will make the miniature "pop".

Completely agree with MaltonNecromancer.
Will also add that adding light to the power weapons/power fist would help to.
ie:
Dark Blue to the fingers, palm and knuckles then
50/50 Dark blue and white dry brushed over the same areas then
Skull White on some of the edges of the same parts.

After that I would use the 50/50 mix to dry brush on the thigh, knee and shin (sections directly under the fist)
You could then use the same mix to highlight the edges of Armour directly faceing the fist

This would give your Black Armour a lil' more depth.

This is what I do with my Death Company to break up all that Black.

Power fist definitely needs to be a "highlight"; I'm not a fan of glowy powerfists, so I use either a red or white cowling instead, but you should certainly consider picking it out in some way.

I agree with the poster above about highlighting, but I wanted also to say; way to go on doing Angels of Vengeance. I think the all black models are totally awesome. I wish they never changed Dark Angels from all black to green. The idea of an entirely black legion, with pure white terminators is just so cool visually. Good luck on the army :)

EDIT: Your painting skills don't suck, I think this model looks really nice.

Check out this thread:

I did some work for a friend of mine that does a Dark Angel successor like you. His are called the Black Lions of Caliban. on this thread are some models I made for him which he is baseing the rest of his army on.

Not the best pics, but it might get my point across.
