Not cheap, models better be nice and decently sized. Hope it is good though, I have a Tie pilot costume just waiting to be cisplayed in while playing the game.

I've pre-ordered mine. I bought the game, the 4 'expansions' and the dice set.

I'm really looking forward to locking S foils in attack position!

Is there an option to be an unarmed Viking badass?

I'd like to know the size of the models before I order, for twelve pounds each they should be quite large and detailed.

Also, Empire > Rebels. Motherfudgecakers.

Vikings > Empire > Rebels.

Also, nice use of fudgecake.

I'll post a size comparison when I get them. I got them for £9.99. I know they aren't exactly cheap but they are Star Wars so.......

Toal Fan Girl has a nice review of the game here (http://www.totalfangirl.com/2012/08/game-review-star-wars-x-wing-miniatures.html).

I must say the models, while small, do look extremely well detailed and painted:

Any chance of an update on what you think of the game and the size of the models Mr energongoodie?:)

I'll give you one tonight, if you'd like, EG. I actually have a review written....

That would be great.:) With measurements!:p Y-wing should be 5.9cm long if they are doing the scale right.

It all turned up on Thursday and have opened it just for you :)

Here is a quick photo for size comparison.
I have not had a chance to play yet, or even read the rulebook. I shall read it today and report back later. Promise :)

Here is one with a ruler.

If you include the sensors at the front it's pretty much 5.9 cm bang on.

Ever since the forum update i can't seem to get pictures to work. I can only post a link.
When I go to post an image it says invalid file. Any ideas?

Thanks, they look nice and while not quite as large as I hoped still large enough.:) Especially with that level of detail and a paintjob that seems rather good.

To add pictures you need to add them as attachments as you've done, then take the attachment URL and edit it into the post with image tags, like this:

Without the spaces. Also uncheck the 'retrieve remote file and...' option.

Heroine!
I tried it without the unclicking before. Thank's for the knowledge bomb.

They're not bad are they. I'm just looking through the rules and different pilot cards now.

Do post feedback when you play the game too, it would be nice ot have some idea how it works. It will influence my purchase, originally I was going to buy one of everything but I'm not sure if it would be worth having three TIE Fighters and two X-Wings and everything else, or just stick with the starter set options. But I heard the expansion TIE and X-Wings have different pilot options...

A mate of mine bought 2 box sets and we played a few games the other day. The minis look quite nice, but not overwhelming. The rules set is simple, and very similar to wings of war, but not exactly like it. Individual fighter craft get different stats and cost different amounts. have varying initiative levels depending upon the stat card, and the game plays quite quickly.

FFG have a video tutorial here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuhwSma960Y&sns=em) which I haven't had a chance to watch yet.

As they are adding different pilots and such, if they give an option to tkae Cive Rashon (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Civ%C3%A9_Rashon) I will be so pleased.

They got the B-Wings, and some of the tie Interceptors in the local shop yesterday. Also some of the tie fighters, and X-wing fighters had better stats on their cards, but cost more points than those with lower initiative, or less abilities.

Second wave has been delayed until February (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=3721), so now Millennium Falcon or TIE Interceptors 'til then.:(

I played a few games of this the other week.
Different pilot skills have a huge difference on the outcomes of games.
Whilst we wait for certain boosters to come back into stock, we are making up numbers with "stunt doubles" (a mix of old Micro machines and Star Wars fleet battles fighters - they had the same mouldings) for spare x-wings, y-wings, TIEs, etc.

One guy in our group managed to snare a full set of the first wave (and I've got an old F-toys 1/350 scale Lambda class shuttle we use instead of the card marker).

FLGS is supposedly getting some new stock and a small amount of wave 2 next month (rep seemed convinced, anyway).
I'll believe it when I see it.

Quoting my own post from ages ago, I know, bad form, but I just realised my above wish for Cive Rashon to be included was already fulfilled by FFG:

Howlrunner ir Cive Rashons' call sign, so yay!

In other news, I expect I am getting a present of X-Wing for my Christmas present as my brothers were quite firm that I not purchase it for myself.

Does it have Tie Defenders?

Chronowraith
12-21-2012, 02:46 PM
No Tie Defenders at the moment but expansions will continue to come until most ships are represented. Currently they have;

Imperials - Tie Fighter, Tie Advanced
Rebels - X-Wing, Y-Wing

First expansions will add the following (expected Jan/Feb of 2013);

Imperials - Tie Interceptor, Slave I
Rebels - A-Wing, Millennium Falcon

I can't stress how much fun this game is to play. It works off of the Wings of War theme but tweaks it to work a little more fluid and fit the Star Wars technology level better.

A lot of people are expecting TIE Bombers and B-wings for wave 3 and maybe TIE Defenders and E/K-wings. Problem with that is that there is nothing much for them to bomb, personally I'm hoping for Defenders, so pretty...

I've heard it is really great to play, bit cranky I've not been able to play it yet.

I've bought pretty heavily into X-Wing. I lurves it so! I am really looking forward to Wave 2, I've gotten to hold the Millenium Falcon in my hands... I want one sooo bad...

Rumor has it that Wave 3 will be:

Imperial Shuttle
TIE-Bomber
B-Wing

plus a 4th ship that may or may not be the Z-95 Headhunter to round out the Rebels for the wave.

There are still a TON of TIE varients they can do for the Rebelion Era, but they are quickly running out of Rebel ships.... E-Wing and K-Wing are about it...

I just hope they dont abandon Rebellion Era too quickly before we start seeing Republic era ships...

I think some of the smaller corvettes such as the Corellian Blockade Runner are within the realm of possibility. I'd like to see them get up to this size on the current scale (the corvette is about 3.5 times the size of the Falcon).

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks it is a good idea but I'd shell out some cash for one. Hard part would be finding an Imperial counterpart as even their common corvettes were super-sized. Although they too used Corellian corvettes so you could just make a rebel and an imperial version (but that is rather bland).

Howlrunner is one of my favorite TIE pilots in the game. I take her in just about every list.

Actually if they keep the scale right a Corellian Corvette would be 55cm long:

1/270 scale:

Y-wing: 16m
Corvette: 150m
Nebulon B: 300m
Mon Cal Cruiser: 1200m
Imp Class I SD: 1600m

Y-wing: 5.9cm
Corvette: 55cm
Nebulon B: 1.1m
Mon Cal Cruiser: 4.4m
Imp Class I SD: 5.9m

Probably a bit long for FFG to produce at an affordable price, but who knows.

Could release it as a convention special like Wizkids does with some of their bigger heroclix.
Cap. ships could be just paper "terrain" features with gun emplacements.

Thought this may be of interest:
http://photos.hobbytalk.com/data/500/medium/DSCN9941.JPG
Kenner Blockade Runner from 1996, 16 inches/40cm long.
Proportions and scale are wrong, it is only 72% (40cm vs 55cm) the size it should be for the X-wing game but it is better than nothing if you really want a corvette. I noticed at least one person on the FFG forum had used it and there are the appropriate cards and templates.

The corellian corvette is perfectly at home in an empire fleet, though you could probably use a carrock class cruiser they seem small enough...

Carrack cruiser is 350m so the model would be about 1.3m long or something for X-Wing scale.
