I've painted up some really nice (IMO) muddy looking bases and I'm having a hell of a time trying to get a simple paint scheme that I'm happy with. I know and apologize for the quality of pics. All I have is a crappy webcam at the moment, but I think you'll at least be able to get an idea of what I've been working on.
Here's a picture of some of the 40mm bases that I did for my scarabs and a 25mm one for scale.

This is the scheme I originally planned on going with but I feel that the model and the base just don't "work" well together.

My selection of paints at the moment is kinda lacking and I'm looking for something simple and easy to do, but something that is unique and eye catching as well. I have spent, literally, the past 5 months trying to come up with something I'm happy with and the only thing so far is my bases. So I'm reaching out to you, the community for ideas on a scheme that will flow well with my bases. Any ideas?
