The latest version of the 40K files - 1.02 - will not be up for very long. They got served with the C&D and are complying. The website ab40k.org may not be up for much longer.

I'm sad. Very sad. It's such a useful tool. Lone Wolf will lose out on revenue because of this as 40K players will not be renewing subscriptions. The files were hosted in the UK, but it doesn't protect the individuals supporting (maintaining?) the files.

UNLESS someone takes over and takes it to a viral distribution through torrent or some other thing. I'm not conversant in xml, so I can only hope someone else takes it up. I'll keep using it for as long as I'm able. Whatever GW release to fill the gap will probably be overpriced and undersupported and only available on iPad. Sad. Sad. Sad.

Looks like the days of pen and paper lists are on the way back.

Yay! (Seriously)

Or, you could use a spreadsheet or word processor, hell you could even make one in paint if you so wish.

I have mixed emotion about this. On the one hand, I am sad because I found it a useful tool to quickly put together a new list or two, on the other I'm glad as I feel that this is right.

Where do you see a post about that? I looked around a bit and I don't see anything about it posted recently. There was a mirror asked to remove a file a while back, but... that wasn't recently.

It's in the update notes for version 1.02 of the 6th edition files. There was a post from them on their Facebook page about the whys and wherefores of it, but it was deleted. There is discussion on the ab40k.org boards though.
