A simple question:

Can the scarabs pass through a barricade of the aegis defence?
The barricades are considered difficult terrain but the scarabs are much smaller than the barricade.

Yes, theres no reason they can't. Anything can cross them, not even sure they count as difficult terrain

Just imagine them crawling up the walls like bugs.

Or don't actually, cos thats pretty scary

Do Scarabs ignore difficult terrain? If they dont then you take tests just like everyone else, size in this case does not matter :P

The scarabs and anything else that would take a difficult terrain test do so, but you only worry about dangerous terrain if you have models that count crossing difficult terrain as dangerous terrain (like Bikes).

Beasts (of which Scarabs are) ignore terrain and have the fleet special rule.

More importantly, Beasts have Move through Cover, which automatically pass dangerous terrain tests.

If you're having problems imagining it from a common-sense perspective, remember that scarabs can hover and in the old Necron codex were considered jetbikes, and they could turboboost and whatnot. They definitely wouldn't have problems crossing a defense line in the fluff.
