Finally, a candidate we can stand behind...or bow before.

If he was really the Emperor, the other candidates would pull their campaigns and bow down before him. For He is the Emperor and no one, save perhaps a Primarch, could see him and be in any doubt of that.

I jokingly refer to the Emperor as my god (being, in actuality, atheist).

I'd totally vote for that guy.

Except for all the terrible xeno/genocide. :(

Sure you're not an agnostic?

Sure you're not an agnostic?

The two aren't mutually exclusive, one being based on belief and the other knowledge. I don't believe, but I know there's no way of ever knowing for an absolute certainty, so I can't claim to know no gods exist.

So the Emperor protects, and all that jazz. ;)

Why vote for the lesser evil? Vote Cthulhu 2012!

Or Tzeentch. That would be awesome.

That is an agnostic view point, not an atheistic.
To truely be an atheist you need as much believe in a god not existing as a theist needs to believe a god does exist.

As you say you cannot prove either point, so both extremes are just a difference of belief system

Sure you're not an agnostic?

Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic who wasn't sure if there was a dog or not?

A dyslexic agnostic would believe in a dog, but in religion

A atheist wouldn't be sure if there was a dog or not

An interesting fact for you. (Warning! my use of interesting is very subjective)
When casting bells, the inscriptions are all done by reversing individual letterings. Historically, those casting bells could not read so relied on the local clerk to ensure that the letters were in the correct order before being made into the bell mould. Occassionaly, letters would end up being reversed or swaped. As a consequence there is (at least) one bell with the inscription "Love your DOG".
I would attach the image but I have lost it at the moment

What'd I just say about the two not being mutually exclusive? :)
It's not one or the other - atheism is a stance on belief, and agnosticism is a stance on knowledge.

I -do- believe there is no god or gods. Very strongly. But I can't make any absolute knowledge claims about it because you can't prove a negative. I might as well try to prove there isn't a teapot in orbit around the sun. I don't want to further derail the topic (is that possible with a joke thread), but I had to get a response in.

I know some pointy eared people who would disagree with you.

Continuing with the pointy eared theme: I vote for Y'nnead...might have to wait a while though. :p

Here is a point of interest. The term "agnostic" was invented by Thomas Henry Huxley, a colleague of Darwin who got sick of being called an atheist. As some of you noted above he knew the non-existence of God was something that could not be proved and thus required called for a leap of faith he could not make. So he borrowed the term "gnosis" (knowledge) from a branch of early Christians who believed they had special knowledge of God. He then add the fore-a (as in anti) to stress that he had no knowledge one way or the other.

A very interesting dude. I got the chance to spend a day in the archives reading his papers. A most cool experience. He was actually the first scientist to argue that humans and apes have a common ancestor. Darwin dodged that issue in the Origins of Species in 1859 but Huxley took it head-on in 1863 in Man's Place in Nature.

One of them will implement radical new policies that make no sense.
The other will push those policies faster the greater the public opposition.
