So what...i donate money for them to build a bunch of models and make some artowrk which will then be given to someone else entirely?

If people can make games day dioramas and stuff look awesome by themselves on their own time and budget why do thse guys need 9000?

Lol, I thought this was actually quite cool, until I read your rant :)
You swayed me, greedy creative buggers.

Because it's easier when other people pay for you to make said dioramas. Good luck to them, but I think they've missed the key reason as to why all the fantasy kickstarter projects have been so successful

I'd consider it if the painting wasn't so mediocre.

There is something cheeky about this.

I have to agree, while I think it sounds awesome I am loathe to hand over money for what I see as no point, at least concerning myself. As was said you don't need my money for a great piece of 40k art.

Every devil needs an advocate, so I'll say you're missing the point. These guys are artists, and they've turned to Indiegogo as their patron. Leonardo da Vinci didn't pay for his paint either.

Now, I'm not putting them on the same level of the great masters of the renaissance. I have barely seen their work, though the diorama in their video is really neat.

I'd also point out that they're not offering 'nothing' in return. There are a number of 'rewards' available to larger donors in the form of custom mini (and not so mini) dioramas, and their asking price isn't out of the ballpark for show quality commission painting.

You have the opportunity to help these guys make an amazing work of art. If your not interested in that, then don't give.

Personally, I would love to see the final product auctioned off for charity, but I suspect they'd like to hang on to their show piece, at least for a while.

Edit: Correction, the actual dioramas they are making are going to their big ticket patrons. The $650 reward level nets you one of the actual final dioramas of their story sequence.

It's not a bad idea, Indiegogo and Kickstarter have been used for things like this before. But after following some of the other miniature based Kickstarters over the past few weeks this one doesn't really grab me.
