I won't say I am an "expert" on 40k lore but having read more than my fair share of black library books, codeci etc etc I think I have a good grasp of the fluff. However I was asked today about the origins of the
Emperor and where his ability to become the "saviour of mankind" stems from. To be honest I was stumped.
Can anyone enlighten me into how this 1 man was able to accomplish all he is supposed to have. Where did his intellectual and physical god come from ?

He created a pact with the chaos gods tens of thousands of years before he became the Emperor (before the first Human empire fell) and bided his time while steering events toward a point where he could take over.
