Bah, who wants a mech on wheels? That thing will fall over the second it hits bumpy ground. And combat in an urban environment is a no go - stairs anyone?

The Daleks managed to get over their problem with stairs. :p

Yeah by flying. So until they develop flying mechs, or at least proper walkers with balance, I'm not interested.

It's still awesome!
It's really hard to get human motion right on robots and walkers, I think that this promises big things though.

Meh, I'll wait for the walking version. Good start though :P

We almost have imperium of man, consisting of the following provinces:

USA: Power Armors
Germany: High tech weaponry
Israel: Kinda priests of mars. Speak funny gibberish language that no-one understands, yet produces tech wonders for military applications.
Japan: TDAs
China & Russia: Unlimited manpower for the grinder
Europe: Fusion tech to power our fleets and needs

North Korea: All this and everything else in their small labs :D

Cheers for the shout-out, but I'm not Japanese. :p

I'llsee your Girly impractical mech, and raise you a Challenger Tank. Well, I say raise. I mean ram.

What about a Challenger on legs?

What? Tripsy McPointless? Stick to treads, they're practical

So if that robot had treads you'd be happy?

The article indicates that they're working on a "walking" model.

I'd imagine that it will be difficult to get to work on such a big scale - but robots have been "walking" now for a while.

For the moment, aye. But keep in mind that tech and tanks have been around for almost 100- years now, while the non-military funded / researched / produced mechs have been around for only a decade.

Give mechs a 100y and they will be viable fighting platforms :)
