Q: During a turn of night fight, if a unit is hit with a searchlight, may other units that are farther away then 36" from the spotlighted unit now target them?

Under searchlights it says the spotted unit does not gain any benefit from night fight rules.

But under Night Fight rules, the bit about maximum range seems to be a hindrance to the firer, not a benefit to the target.

But on the other hand... what hinders the firer would be a benefit to the target, yes?

It's so confusing.

If it says they get no benefit from the rules, then you can target them as if there was no night fighting for both range and to work out cover save. Essentially it's like having Night Vision.

I'd say keep the range rules in place, seen as they would still affect other potential targets. Then, any cover bonuses from night fighting are negated due to spotlights.

So, treat it as:

> Max range is 36".
> Any Spotlight units gain no additional cover from night fight.
