View Full Version : Want to pretend that you are a GW employee?

So I was browsing ebay the other day and noticed this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extremely-Rare-Unreleased-Forgeworld-GW-10-Year-Veteran-Space-Marine-Trophy-/221063660970?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33786bc5aa

Just think, for a measly 3K you can own you very own 10 year commemorative employment statue from GW. Am I the only one that thinks that a bit ridiculous?

My favorite part of the whole thing is this:
The trophies are personalised to the recipient (see photo). This one is mine (the name has been obscured for the photo), however the plaque could be removed and replaced should the new owner wish to do so. just for lulz.

Having employed 2 former GW sales staff after they have left the company, I can understand why this person would want to sell this item. Quite frankly what GW pays its sales staff and managers is a joke.

I once worked somewhere that was interviewing for new management and people got up and left mid-interview because the pay at management level wasn't much higher than that.

When I worked for GW in 1995 I got £2 an hour. Boom! I'd work 10 hours to buy a CD album, a single model blister pack and my lunch that day. I still loved it though. :)

As for the statue, it is a shame but very understandable.

Childhood is over the moment you know you're going to die

that is harsh , because that is more or less around 3-4years old . even faster if you have siblings because then all the house pets die a lot faster + are bought sooner.

Wolfshade
07-16-2012, 04:54 AM
Depends how you look at it, you could suggest that there is a difference between knowing your going to die and realising that you are mortal.
Maybe we need more harsh reality so people realise the consequence of their actions

i didnt wanna get religious so did not elaborate on the 'all is dust' quote :) but its good to see people still know where its taken from.

i would have done 6th form at my school, but it did not have the stuff i wanted to do, i did some performing arts courses. the atmosphere in the college was much more mature than the forced authority in school 6th forms that i saw from my friends at the time.

I think you can go down that road, a lot of our phrases do have a biblical orgin, like nothing but skin and bones, skin of my teeth, a leopard can't change his spots ad infinitum but are now so common place that you don't need to worry about it being seen as religious or not.

Slight correction. The government aren't trying to do it, it's already done, it just hasn't kicked in yet (the current year 9 will be the first to feel the effect). And the kids don't have to stay in school, they have to be in full time education (6th form or college), employment or some form of training. Basically they can't just leave school at 16 and bum around sponging of the state. It is an excellent idea, especially in the current economic climate.

Sigh.
Romans as in Roman Catholics, I don't use the word Catholic when referring to Roman Catholics as there are a large swathes of christians who would identify themselves as being Catholic but not Roman Catholic, e.g. Anglo Catholic. Also, there can be confusion over the term as catholic church just refers to the universal church not any particular denomination.
