Fortification suggestion thread...

So, everyone now gets access to Fortifications, but the only GW supplied models are Imperial. Nothing wrong with that per se, but I'm sure there are those of us who would prefer to make things a touch more homely.

For instance, as a Necron player, I'm kind of tempted by the Aegis Defence Line, as I can bung Warriors behind it and create a nasty little bulwark and like all sensible megalomaniacs, I intend to upgrade it with a Quadgun. And my thoughts naturally turn to a scratch build so it gits in with my army.

Trouble is, beyond the quad gun, I'm a little stumped as to how to go about making the defence line itself. I've got Aegis stuff kicking about, so I can take measurements from that easily enough. But beyond that I'm struggling! But I'll come up with something!

So what am I doing for the Quadgun? Simple. I have 6 Tomb Blades armed with Particle Casters, which has left me 12 Tesla Carbines I can use. Mount them on a pyramid and pointing skyward like a sort of Tesla Tower type defence, and that should pretty much do for me.

Any suggestions for what the various races could use for the various fortifications? Are there any other ranges or kits you could recommend?

I would have thought the shields from the Lychguard set should make for an excellent defence line.

Good idea! Should have 10 of those kicking about somewhere round here. Could make a nice centre mounted point for them. 2 on the long stretches, 1 on the single sections. Hmmm.

But what material to use?

Could you use some of the gauss rods to act as connectors between them and stretch out your line, as well as giving it a cool 'electric fence' look?

Sounds doable. But if I can my hands on green Perspex, I could do an energy wall.... Hmmmmmmm.

Tau would be interesting... If you want to go for a "Looks As, Works As", then the Forgeworld Hammerhead Missile Pod turret. If you want to with what they would normally have, then a Sky Ray turret (or similar) would be what they would normally use. You could always go with a more "primitive" style and get some Krootox Kroot Guns and set them up as the Imperial Quad Guns.

As to other races I would love to ad a forcefield defence line with clear plastic bubbles cut in quarters and some sort of Eldar like contraption added to each to form a forcefield...maybe a blue led to light them up internally :)
And a quad laser....yup...would be nice :D

For Orks...simple..loot it and make it better :)
