I like to use the old style inks when I'm painting, and have a fair bit of black, blue, purple, red, and green - the colours I use. But I never really paint yellow.

Now I'm planning to paint a couple of pale yellow marines, and hence I need suggestions what to use in place of my normal coloured ink routine,

Any suggestions what makes a good wash or ink for use with pale yellow?

ie not all of them are obvious, as chestnut ink used to work miracles with gold...

From Kawauso:

Bone-coloured basecoat (spray or foundation paint)
Brown wash into recesses, tidy up
White edge highlighting
Yellow glaze
Done.

From DrLove42

Base coat in Ceramite White. 1 layer of Yriel Yellow. Agrax wash. Yriel yellow on top, leaving crevices. Highlight at will. Then you could uset the Lamenters glaze to make it really pop.

As for using the old range of inks I have no idea, though I am going to doing the chestnut ink on gold now :)

I might try an orange wash, or see what inks are out there, but sometimes it's easier to ask...

i made up a nice orange/brown wash back before GW did washes.

it was made from yellow ink and flesh wash mixed with KLEAR/FUTURE and water.

i made 2 one more brown to add the shade and the other as a general inkwah/tone

but the tips wolfshade forwarded are spot on too :)
