It really depends what kind of campaign you want to run.

If it's your first, a tree campaign is easiest to manage. You set out the backstory, and line up a defined number of games (say,4). The first mission result sends the forces down a branch in the tree, leading to the next mission, and so on until it's resolved.

For ideas on the campaign story, the best place to look is the Codecies for the participating armies. The timeline section will likely throw up classical encounters between the various forces, giving you either a setting right there, or inspiration for one you want to invent.

Next up is the narrative campaign. Doesn't need a map, but they do add to them. These are trickier to run, as you really need to have a Games Master over seeing things, and in my experience the Games Master should not have a participating army, as their role is primarily that of ajudicator. It's much easier to be impartial when you don't have a stake in the outcome!

As with all good stories, it is important to have a beginning, a middle and an end drawn out in advance. The bits in between? Those you react to!
