I recently started a Pre-Heresy Space Wolf army. How many of you have or are working on Pre-Heresy armies? Did you model them correctly according to fluff(no MK7/8 armor, no aquilas, etc) or did you just paint yours in Pre-Heresy colors? When you play do you use correct Pre-Heresy weapon load out or do you use the current load out(ie: no LRC, etc)? I think it would be cool if everyone posted pics of their Pre-Heresy Marines.

I did a very loosely based pre-heresy Death Guard army (http://shiftedmatrix.com/index.php?option=com_joomgallery&func=viewcategory&catid=3&Itemid=58).The intial idea was it was a 'Not long after the heresy' Death guard splinter force that distrusted the use of deamons and mutation. At least that was the inital idea. Eventually I caved and added deamons to the list :P
Years ago I started a pre-heresy World Eaters Army (http://shiftedmatrix.com/index.php?option=com_joomgallery&func=viewcategory&catid=5&Itemid=58). Limited chest Aquillas. I eventually grew tired of painting white (and finding out a friend had been working on a white and blue marine army...)

I have an Istvaan III loyalists army that uses no aquila chestplates (excepting the Emp Chilluns, some termies, and vets that may have been given the right to wear them...such as Nathanial Garro) and went with nothing 'newer' than Beaky helmets.
I did the best I could to find older legs, resorting to an inordinately large number of jogging assault marine legs (though I couldn't get em all that way, almost all were).
Also, except a few interesting odd shoulderpads (vets and such) I managed to secure studded shoulder pads for everybody.
It took about a year to trade/beg for all the bitz in question, but it was worth it...a few pics...

and my Avatar is the autocannon termie.
the focus was on Death Guard, but a mingling of the other three represented legions.

I have always thought it would be interesting for GW to produce a codex for the Pre-Heresy Armies. You have your18 (->20) First Founding Chapters and then Orks, Eldar, Dark Eldar and some aliens equal insomeway to the Tyranids. Each army gets a page of rules (to be used to modify thier current codex) and a page or two of fluff. Perhaps a campaign guide for playing the Horus Heresy Camapign.

Not at all, have no plans to for that matter. It's the most overdone of all Space Marine fluff, which says a lot (as all Space Marine fluff is overdone).

Then why did you post? I was asking for input and for people to share their projects, not negative comments.

OKay then.
My project is to be negative about Marine related subjects. Especially the Horus Heresy era ones.

Melissia, you could make a Sisters of Silence-themed army... they're clearly being built up so that when the SoB's fluff gets retconned (for a third time, right?) the SoS will be seen as their first incarnation. Hell, that one short story in "Tales of Heresy" pretty clearly states it.
But at least their bothering to build up to the retcon, meaning that your Sisters will eventually get a new book, and not just shelved.

I was working on a small Dark Angels force pre-heresy. No Aquilas, trying to use old style armour mostly Marks 3, 5, and 6 armour along with parts from the Vet. Dark Angels box. Banners from BoLS. For weapons I just used what I had so the Termie got an assault cannon while the power armour guys got the newer bolters and special weapons.
Also making Banner Sq.s for Luna Wolves and Sons of Horus to roll with my Black Legion which stays kitted out pre-heresy to be used as Abaddons first company. (abaddons company was painted all black and i haven't read any fluff to support that his whole company was in terminator armour so I'm good).

Sisters of Silence have nothing to do with the Sisters of Battle. The two are not connected at all. The Sisters of Silence are a group of psychic blanks whom work for the Adeptus Astra Telepathica as its militant arm. Their existence alone is a bit illogical given how rare Blanks are (Blanks are easily more rare than Space Marines, spread across an entire galaxy there might be a few hundred thousand of them at most, and most of them die young because society hates them due to their affliction). And even if you bypass all of that, there's barely anything out there about the Sisters of Silence to begin with.
The Sisters of Battle didn't exist until some five thousand years after the Horus Heresy, and if the Sisters of Silence even exist in this time, the two have completely different duties-- the Sisters of Battle are the army of the Ecclesiarchy, the church of the Imperium of Man (which again, did not exist during the Horus Heresy either!), while as said before, the Sisters of Silence exist(ed) as the militant arm of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica. There is no evidence that the Sisters of Battle will be retconned to have any connection to the Sisters of Silence aside from idle speculation.
The same idle speculation that causes misguided fools to claim that the Grey Knights, Sisters, and Deathwatch will all be crammed into one half-assed "Inquisition" codex, despite GW officials (Jervis Johnson springs to mind) repeatedly saying otherwise-- that the new codices will focus on the Grey Knights and Sisters of Battle. Don't spread unsubstantiated rumors, that annoys me more than the overabundance of Marine armies :P
Also, the Sisters have not been given a major retcon yet. The only ones they've been given is that they no longer police the Marines (they did in Rogue Trader) and they now have an agreement to assist the Inquisition when requested (they would anyway simply because of inquisitorial authority, but let's not get into idiocy of C:WH's cramming the Inquisition in instead of expanding the Sisters).

Oh, don't worry, I'm aware that the two organizations have nothing to do with each other, and it wouldn't make a lot of sense for the SoS to be the primogenitors of the SoB. It just seems to me that the Heresy novels are leading towards a split within the SoS, where one side will give up their vows of silence and become more overtly militant. Specifically "The Voice" in Tales of Heresy, the ending monologue by Emrilia Herkaaze. Now, this could also be leading us to believe that part of the Sisters will go off and join Chaos, or possibly join the Culexus Temple (the Assassins have all been curiously absent during the Heresy novels...).
I'm just saying that when the SoB Codex gets redone, I wouldn't be surprised to see the SoS listed as some form of predecessor.
Also, the Sisters have not been given a major retcon yet. I thought the Sister's original home/founding planet was retconned? Ophelia vs. Terra? Or that might just be the location of their foremost convent. That's probably not really a major retcon, so I retract my retcon statement.

Frankly, I don't really care about the SoS, they're just another part of the Horus Heresy era, which itself is rediculously overdone to the point of being monotonous already.
The home planet was never retconned. The "home planet" of the Sisters was always a small backwater shrine world which worshiped the Emperor and was rediscovered by Goge Vandire during his Age of Apostasy. The base of operations is not the same as the home planet, however-- the base of operations for half of the Major Orders is Terra, while the base of operations for the other half is one of the Ophelia planets (I believe Ophelia III? IIRC, Ophelia IV was the planet that Saint Praxedes defended). The Orders Minoris are scattered throughout the Imperium, and all of the Major Orders have their own scattering of minor shrines and bases as well.
