I know this may seem old, but today i bought a doom scythe. And tested it on grey knights and won. Then i checked the necron faq and there it was. Instead of hitting the whole unit the death ray hits what ever models are underneath. Way to ruin it. Anyone else agree???

Heck no, if it was every model in the unit, it'd be WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OP, it mean it's a str 10 ap 1 weapon. auto hit on every model in a unit would kinda just say, Bye bye unit.

I think the key is to draw a really really thick line between the 2 points.

I felt the same way when I found out that Tau railguns were 'Heavy 1' instead of 'Heavy 5.'

If it sounds too good to be true, and isn't in the Grey Knights codex, then it probably is.

Did you really think that you wounded everyone in the squad? Just draw a line through an Ork squad and kill all 30 of them on a 2 up?

Theres miss resding the rules and then theres being an idiot

With the new flyer rules doom scythes are looking to become extremely good (6s to hit them and 36" move and fire).

May be some nerfing in the new FAQ around fire arcs (currently they seem to be able to fire backwards RAW but I'm not sure whether that's intended)

Under 5th edition rules, yes, because flyers didn't exist outside apocalypse in 5th. Once 6th gets here, they become flyers.

I think the key is to draw a really really thick line between the 2 points.

By definition, a line is an infinitely thin vector cross through two distinct points.

You can still pull this on english majors, though.

Sorry, had to fix it. Infinitely thin would still be wider than the universe, essentially a plane.

Um...sorry, but I have no idea how you understood it to mean it hit every model in the unit.

It's pretty clear that was not the intent of the rule, even if an argument could be made that it's worded somewhat poorly.

It's an infinitely thin line (as with all other line-drawing abilities). It hits the models it hits. In no way would the Necrons get a fast skimmer (soon to be flyer!) that could zip around and destroy entire multiple infantry units with a single shot (against which cover is very hard to get).

Don't forget Geometry too, people.

Your line better be straight, or the flying spaghetti monsters gonna get ya.

Of course if it infintessimally then, then the width tends to zero, if something has no width nothing can ever be underneath it ;)
