Hello everyone,

So my friend and I watched GoT last week. Oh. My. God.
I was watching in amazement, it is perhaps the best thing I've ever seen. The characters are interesting, the landscape is versatile, and I swear to the gods if Tyrion Lannister gets killed then I stop watching.

Just working through Season 1 at the moment and then on to Season 2. Good times.

Opinions?

You Sir, are in for a treat. It's great T.V. Both series have been good and I can't wait for series 3. I am very tempted to get the books but then the T.V series will be ruined for me. But I just don't know if I can wait that long for more entertainment.

I know EXACTLY how you feel, having recently bombed through all of Season 1 myself. My mate has all of the second season Sky Plussed, so we really need to marathon that in the near future.

Oh, and the name of a certain Dothrakh warlord inspired me to make this terrible excuse of an art piece...

HAH! Nice.

My mate is lending me Season 2 when I'm done. :D

I didn't see your post! I feel bad now! :(

Yeah man, it is truly epic. I love everything about it.
I may have also developed a crush on Daenerys. :D

Strangely enough the more I've watched the less I've been impressed with it. It's a soap opera for geek boys. It's still excellent, I've just stopped caring. Feeling a bit that way about the books too, to be honest.

Lol, not seen it but read all the books....just remember the author hates all his characters....:D

Me, me! Thats me :D

I sort of tried ( not very hard though ) to get a job on series 3. I didn't fancy moving to Ireland for months though.

The last book was hard work, but that won't stop me from buying the next one.

Not as much of a pain as the Necronomicon!

It's still not as good as the Elder Scrolls. (for a Fantasy setting)

As low fantasy goes I prefer Hyboria.

The Conan setting of R.E. Howard.

Skyrim is nifty, but it isn't low fantasy. Not high fantasy either, sort of neutral.:)

I mean the entire series. Nirn as a universe is hugely diverse. (rhyme!)

Well... Technically Nirn is a planet... But also technically the universe...
And now we get into CHIM and the Godhead Theory. Gods...

Relative altitude.

Also, high fantasy is very much the Tolkien archetype. Good elves, magic spells, orks, nobility etc. Low fantasy is much more 'gritty' people are motivated more by base motives and there may not be any magic or magic is minimal. It is actually one of those silly issues that people have written lots about what precisely low and high fantasy means. Generally low fantasy is taken to be more realistic.

XD

I suppose that makes sense, when you think about it.

CHIM, and the Godhead Theory makes sense and doesn't at the same time.

Low fantasy also tends to have more personal and smaller scale storylines.

High fantasy tends to be more world-impacting in nature. EG LotR is high fantasy, and arguably GoT and Dragon Age Origins as well.

Conan, Garrett PI are examples of lower fantasy stories.

It was a really good ending! I love Tyrion and Bronn, epic duo!
Also, got to love Dragon lady.

Agreed. Peter Dinklage deserved his emmy. I loved that whole bit in the Eyrie. Great set design.

Agreed. There's quite a bit in GoT that creeps me out.

Why did I feel an empty space when Eddart was executed? I really liked him.

Typical of Sean Bean to die, he dies in everything.

I've got to be honest. I did not see that coming. I really thought he'd be saved at the last moment. It just reinforces the fact that GoT is bad *** by killing off a great character. Less predictable T.V is good T.V for me.

Especially since certain doomed secondary characters in the books have become main characters in the tv series. If you thought Eddard's death was shocking, just you wait for certain events that will likely cap off season 3.
