Those new templates

Hiya, just over at the GW site looking at the fancy shmancy new templates.
Over designed steampunkish thingys imo.
Anyway, the flamer template caught my eye as different.
It seems to have an extention at the broad end. My interest was peaked.
Does this extra "bit" mean that my existing templates are now "wrong" putting me at a disadvantage, or is it a design foible. The latter frankly, I'd prefer as although it seems incredibly stupid it at least means that I won't have to consider buying new templates that have a "blob" at the end.
Anyone got info?

From the look of it the interior 'tear drop' is used to work out hits.

Everything else is just handholds to enable you to clearly see who has been hit.

Yeah that makes sense, but still....Designed to cause confusion I reckon. Hope the "Basic" ones are the same as the eight or so I've collected since 2nd.

I don't think there are basic templates :). There are 40k and Fantasy templates :)

I've seen the "old" transparent ones at my GW still, alongside both the brass embelished Fantasy ones as well as the green ones for 40k.

Don't know if they'll pull anything, except maybe the green ones for 6th ed.

Nothing to worry about, just fancy bits, they don;t chnage the overal imprint of the template. It will get in the way a bit, but you should be able to work out what is covered. Compare it to these fantasy ones and they are still pretty straightforward.

I'm just going to stick with my AOBR green templates. I was tempted to pick the new ones up but they just look too fragile for a mobile gamer such as myself. They are definitely unique but I'm sure I would have them broken in no time at all.

The templates are quite horrid, I quite liked the WFB templates. I doubt they will be exceptionally flimsy though. What really amuses me is how many people on Warseer were saying they had just taken the WFB templates and painted them a different colour.:rolleyes:

I can see their use, you see how many models are inside the template now, the edges do not count.

If I get some, I'm cutting out all the electrical lines on the inside. It's not like they're structurally important, and it'll just help to make it so that anything underneath is easier to see.

if it deffused through some gass (gauss ;)) then you could get some emission spectra depending on the excitation
