I was talking to a bunch of teenagers the other day, and it turned out that none of them had the fainest idea who Stephen Fry was, aside from a vague notion that he was on BBC 2. This will not do. I know a lot of people don't rate him (and that's cool), but he's one of my personal heroes, and having discovered a few excellent clips, I thought I would share them here.

I also share what is, for me, still his funniest clip (warning, contains very mild swearing - use of the synonym for "donkey")

Well. I say everyone.

Not the far right of course. They don't tend to like erudite, successful representatives of things they inexplicable hate and fear!

to quote Prince Charles...

Stephen Fry is "a jolly good egg."

I have been watching QI on youtube and I really wish it was televised in Canada well worth it

What's wrong with the youth of today? well I suppose it's not big brother or z-factor, but yes surely he's a national institution.

Stephen Fry is an absolute legend, one of the funniest people I have ever met. That's right boys and girls, I've met Mr Fry.

Does that give you a fry number of 1?
Then people who have met you have a fry number of 2, people who meet them are 3 etc. with Stephen Fry himself being 0

Yep. And if I meet someone else who has met Stephen Fry then it's Stephen Fry 1 (squared).

But yeah, Stephen was a really funny and down to earth chap. I was quite awestruck.

Always found him hillarious. And then he helped save one of my favourite pubs! Long live the Hobbit and Long live the undesputed King of QI! Just wish I had more time to read a few more of his books.

Do you think people ever call him Steve or stevie or Ste

I should've asked him that.

I should've asked him that.

I don't think he'd appreciate it, he is certainly a Stephen

Definitely! I said "Mr Fry", and he quickly corrected me to just call him Stephen.

I like that modesty, it has always struck me that he seems uncomfortable with being a "celebratory"

I got that from him too, he's not a massively formal man.

Wolfshade

I love his use of language aswell. I might not agree with everything he says but in the debates on radio he seems to genuinely listen to the opponets views and responses eloquantly

I love Mr Fry also, but to me he will always be Melchett. I still wish those rumours of him being the next Doctor Who were true.

"Stephen Fry's pretty fly for a white guy!" - and now I want to do a re-write of a joke song. :D
