Anyone used those forgeworld powders?

Anygood, or are they more hassle than they are worth?

My mate seems to be quite the fan of them, says they are very effective. Haven't used them personally though.
I'd trust my mate though, he's quite the painter.

Aye? I'm considering adding a couple to my next forgeworld order, but don't want to find out they're a pain in the arse to use after I've spent the cash lol.

I'll get a formal quote from him for tomorrow, but last I heard he said they were good.

I've got them, but you need some skill and some other varnishes and stuff to make them stick and look proper.

They're not as easy as they look and need practice. I recommend using an old model to practice on first. I mostly just got it all over my fingers.

I use them a bit, the trick is to not over do it, a little at a time is best.

Here is a link to a model a posted some time ago, I use the powders around the arms and legs.

My brothers are mad on them, never used them myself though. Everyone knows wraithbone is self-cleaning.

The key to apply them is a handy little brush you only use for the powders. They have special weathering powder brushes which look an awful lot like little make-up brushes. A soft little brush on one end and a soft little sponge on the other.
So either buy some on a webshop, brave the shame and enter a make-up shop, or rob a girl. ::D

He said that they're absolutely fantastic, he greatly recommends them, he says practice with them though. They can go a bit chaulky.

That looks brilliant, and it's nice to see the effect you want to get without it being a heavy metal/forgeworld pic lol.

I'm sure if I can buy feminine hygiene products without batting an eyelid, I'm sure I can manage to buy makeup brushes but seriously, thanks for the tip, i'm not sure I would have thought of it.

Speaking of which, the largest makeup brushes make superb drybrushes.

The trouble would come then if you were to use the same brush on your face, unless that is the secret behind EGs routine, dry brush the make up on

Forge worlds imperial master class vol 1 is a good buy if you can pick one up. Lots of tips for weathering especially.
I also use the salt technique for weathering which is nice too, plenty of tips for that on you tube.

Another great painter on YouTube is this guy, his weathering on this dread is awesome.

Oh, and as Deadlift mentioned, the two Forgeworld masterclass books are really a treasure trove for techniques and materials. They're quite inspiring.
