View Full Version : Why is EA killing gaming?

So i've just seen the new sim city E3 trailer, but it's an ea game.... oh well looks like I'm either going to have to learn to program so I can crack it myself (cause I won't pirate) or not play it, thats even assuming it's a complete game and not missing half of it in "DLC"...

Because they want to be like Valve and never will be.

Also, 600th post!

Sim does look very pretty. Is it one of those that needs to be online constantly?

Tzeentch's Dark Agent

Indefinitely.
I feel like I've lost out on the proper Mass Effect 3 experience due to not having XBL. :/

Psychosplodge

Probably from the looks of the "connect to simnation", they look like they're trying to expand on something they started in an older game, but obviously with the DLC and restrictive DRM so that no doubt they can turn off the game in a few years...

Screw EA, The Elder Scrolls: Online is where all my money is going. :D

Hmm I wonder if I can get Alpha Centauri working on my pc, maybe it's time for the classics to raise from the ashes...

Wolfshade
06-08-2012, 03:55 AM
Alpha Centuri I had completely forgotten about that. My colony used to become abandonded :(

I usually ended up sending fleets of carrier subs with planet busters out, and wiped everyone out in a brutal single turn of annihilation...

I can't be doing with RTS anymore, too much resource gathering...

I am disappointed that Dark Millenium got scrapped.

Psychosplodge
06-08-2012, 04:28 AM
Aren't they making it a single player RPG instead?

Tzeentch's Dark Agent
06-08-2012, 04:37 AM
Yeah, but I wanted to be a Striking Scorpion and kill Spess Mehrenes.

Psychosplodge
06-08-2012, 04:41 AM
Well, now you can probably be an uber space marine and pull the ickle striking scorpions silly thin arms and legs off...

Tzeentch's Dark Agent
06-08-2012, 04:45 AM
But I like Striking Scorpions... :(

Psychosplodge

Because they're so cuddly? ;)

Yep.

Don't mistake me for that *** from Love Can Bloom, I would probably kill one if they existed.

Did you both find that entertaining? :D

Psychosplodge
06-08-2012, 05:59 AM
I only read the overview, I am at work afterall lol
but I will read it at some point so I can offer appropriate "constructive" criticism...

Tzeentch's Dark Agent
06-08-2012, 06:03 AM
Hahahaha!
Let me be clear, I did not write this. Even TDA is not THAT nefarious.

Psychosplodge
06-08-2012, 06:05 AM
I know, lol, but how can I properly take the piss till I've read it?

Plus it's probably still a better love story than twilight...

Wolfshade
06-08-2012, 06:06 AM
I think I shall, though in a private window when I get back home, assuming I don't drown whilst en route

Tzeentch's Dark Agent
06-08-2012, 06:11 AM
The stupid thing is... it is better than Twilight.

They even expanded the basic story, and introduced a Eldar/Human child, I believe it's name is Lofn? That's when it got weird.

eldargal
06-08-2012, 06:13 AM
HA! Brilliant.

Oh and yes, it is better than Twilight. I managed ot read three chapters compared to one for Twilight.

Tzeentch's Dark Agent
06-08-2012, 06:16 AM
I haven't read Twilight at all, though I have been dragged to see 2 of the films...

Why did I get the feeling that you would like it? :D

Psychosplodge
06-08-2012, 06:30 AM
lol, i read it 'cause I knew I'd have to see it, and I prefer to read books of things first so I can see how it's been ruined onto film, the first three are a poorly written mediocre fan fic esque romantic trilogy. The forth is the worst book ever written that I've had the misfortune to read. it's so badly composed you're practically reading the same third twice from two characters viewpoints and the last third is the happily ever after that has so many cliches.... and don't get me started on how she's lifted sections more or less wholesale and dropped them neatly into place with little to no change (read I,Jedi and compare how Corran Horn learns to perceive the force) ARRRGH!!!!!

Luckily Wenchingtons decided they were crap after one film so I only had to sit through two of them...

Tzeentch's Dark Agent
06-08-2012, 06:34 AM
My ex girlfriends dragged me to them, then I vowed to never again date a Twilight fan. A vow that I have maintained thus far.

Wenchingtons?

Wolfshade
06-08-2012, 06:38 AM
I have read all of the twlight books, and they are ok, not spectacular, not somethin I would read again, but I think the first was ok and then they went down hill to the forth. Though I do have to disagree with it being the worst book ever written, in my opinion that has to go to Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, it is not so much that I dislike the idea that was behind it, others have done the same story (or similiar at least) and made it more palatable, it was more his writting style. I get annoyed with people re-iterating the same thing over and ovr and found it very tough going from that perspective.

Tzeentch's Dark Agent

Still not as good as Lasgun Wedding.

Psychosplodge

Wenchingtons?

An affectionate pet name for my better half, usual usage is something like "Come on then wenchingtons" as I walk out the door after she's been waiting for me for ten to fifteen mins :D

Having made the conscious decision not read Dan browns Da vinci code (which sounds surprisingly like the book it supposedly plagiarised form the back cover blurb) I can stand by my earlier statement :p
And expand by saying she clearly has no idea how to write from multiple viewpoints. Read a Harry Turtledove novel for a reasonable multi viewpoint story telling experience...

Hah! Cute. :)
B!tches be crazy in my area, it must be something in the water... :/
Or as my name suggests; I make everyone mad as a hatter.

Psychosplodge
06-08-2012, 07:27 AM
lol it's really quite playful, the one time I said it infront of my family they all (and I mean all it was my cousins 21st) looked at my like I'd just drowned a kitten....

I suppose if you aren't in the joke it's not funny. I mean our lass walks with a cane, and whenever we're having any kinda of mock fight cause she can't keep up with me she'll jokingly say "well you shouldn't have pushed me down the stairs..." as if i'd do that, and she'd stay after i did... but the looks people give you...

I can usually recognise when people are joking, my superpower is perception. :)

Second guess DnD?

Wolfshade

Special is a reference to the attributes system in fallout serires

I've just downloaded the project nevada mod for it to try it out for a different experiance

Tzeentch's Dark Agent
06-08-2012, 08:36 AM
Ooooh? What does that introduce?

Wolfshade
06-08-2012, 01:05 PM
Just makes it more FPS with bullet time and stuff

Psychosplodge
06-08-2012, 01:30 PM
Does that not defeat the point of fallout?

Wolfshade
06-08-2012, 06:22 PM
I haven't played it yet, but yeah I think it really is a bit strange not sure if it would work well but thought would give it a spin.

Wolfshade
06-09-2012, 02:08 AM
Alpha Centuri I had completely forgotten about that. My colony used to become abandonded :(

The game I thought was Alpha Centuri was actually Outpost by Seirra Online

Psychosplodge

Wolfshade
06-11-2012, 01:45 AM
The most frustrating part is that I try to re-install it (Outpost) it doesn't like 64bit, ideally wanting 16 bit. Nerd rage!

Psychosplodge

Tzeentch's Dark Agent

Yeah, because people like my associates (it's a bitter taste to call them 'friends') are absolutely crazy for it. I have no idea why.
