View Full Version : Where are the Plastic Storm Troopers?

I constantly find myself staring and drooling at the Kasrkin and especially the old Storm Trooper models. Before the Imperial Guard codex came out there were a few rumors about plastic Storm Troopers. I really dislike metal models so I refuse to buy the others but I would really like some Storm Troopers and a Valkyrie for them to cruise in. Today I ran into the Apocalypse Data Sheet for the Storm Trooper thing and now I can't stand it anymore. I want them now.
So, was the plastic kit scratched and I missed the memo or should I still be hopeful?

I'm sure they will be here any minute, along with the plastic Valhallans I have been hearing about since 2001.

If GW release them now you will buy them now and not the new stuff they have put out with the codex, then what will they have left for you to buy when they rerelease the Inquisition codices?
At the minute they want your pound/ dollar for the valk, etc.., they will be happy to take your cash for the stormtroopers later.
You are a victim of a marketing strategy, sorry mate.
They are coming that is a fact but not until after GW finds a big pile of Space Hulk boxes they had forgotten about and does a second "limited" run (ahem) at least.

Guard heads fit real nice on Space Marine Scouts. Scouts with all their bonus equipment bits and 4+ armor.
Just saying... :)

Be a man: paint metal figures!
Seriously though, plastic storm troopers will be sweet whenever they get around to it. They so busy spending all that licensing money these days they hardly have time to develop or playtest.

I'm not willing to waste money on promises. I don't plan on buying any valkyries until I get so elite soldiers to put in them.
I have seen conversions done with scouts and cadians but they can end up being to similar to the kit they came from. Hopefully the plastic Storm Troopers will at least be released with the next Imperial Guard codex.

I would think we'd see them mid 2010. Consider the Space Marine second wave and Ork second wave.

I'm not sinking a penny into my upcoming guard force until every unit I want has a plastic model.
So, therefore, the 9th Astraean Twilight Guard may be a long time in the making.

If you don't like metal models why not try out Forgeworld resin. Death Korp grenadiers are just storm troopers with a different name. The only thing I don't like about them is trying to get the right combo of assault weapons without buying tons of extra models.

I've got about 25 of the old metal storm troopers (not kasirkan) -I love the models, but on the field they are a whole bunch of suck. 16 points and still needed 5+ to wound most anything, not to mention the reduced range and only have a 4+ armour for space marine prices - basicly they just end up being an expensive target - I've rather have the 3-4 10 men squads of normal guardsmen then 10 stormtroopers.

I really like the Elisians but I am also hoping the at some point in the not too distant future GW will expand their imperial guard range to include them, so buying them would be admitting my hopes and dreams are just lies that I tell myself.
I would really like to collect an Imperial Guard army but the current plastic infantry range just really doesn't appeal to me.
I just looked at those Krieg Grenadiers. They are pretty sharp and if I get anything it would be them. All of the Krieg troops are better than the current plastic GW Imperial Guard. The actually have ankles instead of elephant legs.

In the same place as the plastic Sisters, Grey Knights, and Dark Eldar-- stuffed away for some future time when GW finally gets bored of making new Marine armies.

Because I don't poop out twenty-pound notes is why. FW stuff makes Citadel miniatures look cheap.

That's the funniest response I've seen in a long time. Also very true.
