Baggy Tanktracks

I was just wondering, has anyone else dropped in an extra link in a chimera's tank tracks to slacken them? at the front would show the tank at rest, and at the back would show movement.

Any tank buffs who know better? Or any people who have done/seen it? Would love to hear your thoughts.

I'm not sure how well this would work since the updated sculpt no longer has any wheels, sadly. I'd be interested if there was a good way to pull it off, though, the treads on 40k tanks always look so weirdly tight.
