Woah, me gusto! :D That's good base colour and nice shading. I'm looking forward to the progress on those FW models.

Those are going to be great. I like the airbrush work, coming at each tank/vehilce a little differently than the last makes the army look REAL as opposed to the same color/shades/lines/etc. Keep it up!

Dammit...now I HAVE to buy an airbrush lol. Man, those models look incredible. I love how much work you put in after the initial layer of colour you put down on your vehicles. Also that Wraithseer head is lights out good. Love your stuff, keep up the good work!

Amazing blend on the tanks and the nitghwing. I really love the neat lines of text on the superheavies!

I'm afraid I actually don't like the cold Avater. Don't get me wrong, I think it is superbly executed, but it just doesn't do anything for me at all. The Wraitheseer head on the otherhand is really spectacular. I love the splinter-vortex effect.

Just to play the other side of the coin, I really dig the take on the cold-avatar! Very unique fits with the rest of the theme, and certainly well executed. Lovely collection.

Work goes slowly forward. This time no airbrush. Darker parts of armour and highlights were handpainted.

Oh my lord. Totally gorgeous. I just got my airbrush, I gotta learn how to use it beyond just doing nifty basecoating. I LOVE the Wraithlord. The striping, and subtle markings are fantastic cheers fellow Eldar player.

EDIT: I can't believe you didn't airbrush the wraithlord. mind-blowing brush work, cheers on the fantastic work.

Hello

It's been awhile since I was here last time.

Here are pics of finished flayer and Farseer on jetbike I'm currently working. Farseer is made from dire avenger, he needs a coat trimmed with fur, some details and base with ice and snow. I plan to paint him in the black and turquoise with a lot of freehands.

also how did you get this effect ... !!!!!!!!!

Hello

Perforation on bike was my own idea.

Don't remember exact colors on this eldars. There was a lot of mixing: pactra, GW old paints, RMS, some elements were airbrushed some painted with regular brush...

Here is update of farseer. Almost ready to paint. I'll try to recreate color scheme of rest of the army with new GW paints. I don't do this farseer on a constant basis, so it will take a while before I start to paint.

That Farseer looks incredible! If GW made a Jetseer model of half that quality I would buy two - as it is I just have a sad metal Farseer torso glued to some skinny jetbike rider legs doing a 'look-no hands'...sigh...

Why would you ever be stupid enough to paint that much surface area by hand?

I'd be more impressed if he painted it blindfold and holding a brush between his toes but given how stunning the effect is on the army I don't care either way :)

So in your opinion everyone who doesn't use an airbrush is stupid?

So in your opinion everyone who doesn't use an airbrush is stupid?Dark was a bit over the top, but still, saying someone's work is lesser/less impressive because they used a certain technique isn't very pleasant either.

Olek's painting an army (very well, I might add!) with a colorscheme based on color gradients over large, smooth surfaces, and thus chose a painting technique most suited for that task, just like how one might use a finepoint brush to paint eyes, or tape to help paint hazard stripes.

RGilbert26
04-03-2014, 10:15 AM
Well I didn't say I did not like it I just said that if it was painted with a brush I would be more impressed with the work as it would have been harder to achieve the affect. Obviously the OP has skill with an airbrush which is why the models look the way they do.

DarkLink
04-03-2014, 12:36 PM
So in your opinion everyone who doesn't use an airbrush is stupid?

...no. You want to hand blend that much stuff to the level of smoothness you get from an airbrush, be my guest. But if you've got an airbrush, it saves you so much time you'd be an idiot not to use it.

- - - Updated - - -

I was saying that the idea that he's somehow less skilled because he used an airbrush is bull. You get better results for a fraction of the effort, but it certainly doesn't mean it doesn't take skill to use an airbrush. It would be like congratulating someone on mowing their lawn with a pair of scissors.

If I would try to paint phantom titan in this color scheme with a brush, I would need regular therapy. But if all surface will be covered with freehand or very tiny spots of camoflage the only way to do this is with normal brush ( and I would still need therapy).

Here are some WIP pics of farseer on jetbike:

I like the drilled in holes - so much of deco in 40k is sculpted on bling, that having the Farseer's decoration be the absence of material seems rather elegant.

I really like the color choices here. The jade brings the otherworldness of the eldar to the fore, with the black and bone creating a sinister mood. It evokes the tragic emotions of the race to me.

Vèry impressive, nothing much to fault really. My only frown came from the dark-half/light-half feet, that's rather distracting.
