I was wandering on the number of attacks that a basic grey knight gets the stat line says 1 but he has a nemisis force sword and a storm bolter does that give him another attack like the pistol does for marines?

Only time you get extra attacks is when you have two close combat weapons or a pistol, which acts as a close combat weapon. Storm bolter is not a pistol or close combat weapon, so they only have one with that load out.

so there really would not be a down side to taking the halberd even though its a two hander

Yeah, the halberd is a complete improvement. The Grey Knights used to use their Storm Bolters as pistols (kinda) back in the Daemonhunters 'dex, but that's been left out of the newest one.

Because of the Loss of True Grit, the normal Grey Knight now only has 1 attack. the stormbolter is not a pistol, even though it's wrist-mounted. In DH (the older book) all Grey Knights had a rule called True Grit which allowed the model to use the Storm-Bolter as a pistol in close combat, but could not receive the +1 attack bonus for charging. Without this rule or something similar the normal Grey Knight only has 1 attack base (2 if charging, etc...)

Edit: Which is what Tiberius said above me....

That's why you could get Falcions for the extra +1 to attack....but the Halberd and +2 Int is SO much better.
