View Full Version : 6th Edition Rumors are SO yesterday... let's move on to 9th Edition rumors!

Seriously. These 6th Edition rumors are such sh!te. No one really knows anything and everyone is talking out their posteriors. If we're gonna do that let's do it RIGHT! Let's prognosticate on things COMPLETELY beyond our ken and go on and on about it as if we know something: let's discuss Warhammer 40K's 9th Edition! I'll start:

I hear that in 9th Edition 40K all units would have an image of a pair of scissors, a piece of paper, or a rock molded onto the base and that these icons would interplay during combat... I'm not sure what it all means but I'm REALLY bumming over the prospect of 9th edition... oh, and President Schwarzenegger... I heard the two coincide! :P

What have y'all heard?

I think the shift to ten-sided dice was well overdue... and that unobtanium items are overpriced for the Tau. I'm just glad our fourth codex is finally almost here.

The Sisters will finally get a new codex in 9th Edition... their first new codex since the over-powered insanity that they got in 6th edition!

By 9th edition, Calgar and the Tau would have defeated Chaos for good, so obviously CSM and Daemons have been removed from the game. There was much crying over this fact but Fluff trumps people's models. To compensate for the loss, GW introduces Squats as the new broken army of the month and a digital ragdex for the Hrud (yes white dwarf is now digital, each month they send you a USB 1.0 flash drive with a Notepad version of the magazine).

im really enjoying how GW sacked everyone par mr.ward the new codex cover is superb http://goo.gl/PJJYX

im also really liking how they stream lined all the races into:
blud-angels+necrons BFFs4lyfe
SPESH MAHREENS FTW
green orkcs
pansyelves lolwutalwaysunderpowered

it makes the new d300 mechanics soo much more streamlined and simple, and the increase of all av's to 22 and every infantry stat to a 4 was a really smart move :D

I heard that they use the Tesseract and the One Ring to resurrect the Emperor. Edition comes with limited edition Finecast Bilbo Baggins in power armor.

Rules wise, I hear its all decided on a the seize roll. Tournaments will be significantly shorter as a result.

Gameplay is much more streamlined. Firstly, decide who's going first - they deploy first. Then after scout moves, you and your opponent choose heads or tails, then flip. The guy who chose right wins. Everyone agrees that while it may make for a shorter game, at least it's perfectly balanced, with new players standing a good chance of winning against a seasoned pro.

Marine players can re-toss the coin if they wish; it's written into the rules that they have to put up with the endless moaning of every non-marine/WHFB/Warmahordes player that "Marines are rubbish; everyone has them! I'm a special and unique snowflake, not like you, you generic, boring Marine player!"

There are few survivors of the days that follow.

GW's CEO, Mat Ward, and their chief games developer, Robin Cruddace, have decided to merge 40K and Fantasy Battles into Warhammer 40,000 Fantasy Battles. Karl Franz is zapped into the grim darkness of the far future and finally he can now have giant griffins with frickin' lasers on their heads.

I'm glad they're changing the rules for deepstriking. If i jump out of orbit and scatter onto a squad, my dreadnought should squash the entire unit flat....

Adjustments to the Fantasy books have also been made to ensure that, while even a single lasgun can mow down dozens of poorly armored spearmen, you will now be able to field so many bodies that even IG will have trouble packing in enough guns to kill everyone. GW denies that this is an attempt to force even veterans to buy literally hundreds of extra models to expand their armies.

To be honest i am surprised there was a 9th edition..

it was touch and go during the great 40k Warmahordes war of 2036 "Exection of the heretics was up that year"

however our blessed great leader, the almighty divine emperor Matt Ward pulled it through for us.

"The fact that we now need to play wearing these custom GW NBC suits is a minor setback"

With the utter atrocity that was 8th, I'm so glad they've cut down on the amount of reading materials needed for each game. by combining 8th Ed Volumes 1 to 18 into one handy 9th Ed rulebook, the 8084 pages are a breeze the look through. The Iron backed Edition is also bulletproof, handy for those drives through town in your GW Army specific Automobile, the only known vehicle for sale with the ability to carry all 200 of your gold edition carry cases (no less may be carried) AND feature space to accomodate both you and your Servo harness to carry your rulebook with you.

Remember when we first thought that GW producing there own 3D printer to create models was a good idea? Yeah the printer was cheap but now it costs almost as much as a tank of gas to get the printing medium-and that's only good for about 10 models or 1 rhino.

I hear that 9th edition will be followed closely by the 23rd edition of the venerable tome that is the Space Marine Codex. Though personally I think it peaked sometime during 7th edition, with the 12th edition of the Codex.

I hear Pang Wei Lui and Krishna Sanjat are contributors on this one so you just know they're gonna nerf our Imperial Firestorm Frigates. And after four years I have nearly 60% of mine painted and 35% of it paid off.

I like the special edition of the rulebook that comes with a set of Power Armour.

But I am also suprised we ever got to 9th. I thought GW was done for when the Church of Kelly marched on the Vatican demanding he be a living saint was going to cause a lot of trouble..

I heard in Ninth that Hardcore is back in for the tournament types - every model killed goes straight into the melting pot right there at the table. Makes craters for vehicles really easy - just dip out a ladle of splodge and drop it on the table - those styrofoam surfaces just melt, and there you are!

Oh and by this time THQ are writing all kinds of nonsensical bollocks, I'm unsure as to why they hired C.S. Goto to write for them again.

KHORNATE PSYKERS EVERYWHERE. CHAOS GREY KNIGHTS. HURR-HURR.

Bloodravens are drafted from those Grey Knights who were originally drafted from Blood Angels and Raven Guard :)

-> Assault Marines with force weapons as troops
-> Tactical Marines with psybolts and astral aim, and new psychic power that lets you charge after firing rapid fire- weapon (and ability to take 2 special / heavy weapons per 5man)
-- Astral aim requires no test as long as sergeant is alive, new psychic skill requires passing of LD test, with -1 to the roll / one enemy model more in the assaulted unit (so that 5man squad charging 10man squad would get -5 modifier, practically making them fail only on snake-eyes!)
-> Furioso Dreadnoughts with hammerhand and Pair of Nemesis Blood Talons

All units have stealth and hit'n'run in addition of being psykers equipped with free jump packs. Even for terminators! Not to forget furious charge and rage (that can be passed by psychic test), and prefered enemy: Power Armor, and all things of chaos ofc.

All vehicles get Supersonic and Fast rules / types (razorback batmobile anyone?)

And not to be uncompetitive, All units from C:IG can be drafted at 20% discount on a %- based FoCs.

PS. Psybolts give rending and ignore invulnerable saves in addition to the +1S of the weapon firing it!

From my super-duper reliable source that I'm not making up at all, 9th edition is going to be edition where they actually move the plot to the year 40,001. From now on it's going to be called Warhammer 50k, for GW's 50th anniversary. Pretty boss, right?

Also, Leman Russ tanks for IG only cost 10 points per tank, and you can take them in squadrons of 10. Too bad each tank costs 150 dollars... Oh well, I didn't need college anyway!

Get this, the new Space Marines Codex is going to have the Emperor, resurrected from the fusion of all of the remaining Primarchs, loyal and Chaos. The fluff is written that he fuses together out of his sons and then fights all of the Chaos Gods on Terra.

Oh, and the two unknown Primarchs? Ibram Gaunt and Ciaphas Cain. It was them all along. They were reduced to small men because of a warp storm, but every time they die they come back with new Space Marines out of the warp.

NAKED Tournies:

New Launch for Tournies are replacing the big GW Tournies around the nation. Rules are that you have to have a painted army...acurate list that is revied by judges and have to be naked.....

ok I threw up in my mouth a bit thinking about this.....and now I'm stabbing myself with my pen at work thinking of thinking of this....

I heard (from some source I'm TOTALLY not making up) that in 9th Edition there will be 52 distinct Codices for Space Marine armies and one giant Codex called Codex: Everyone Else.

Possibly or I did hear they were going to turn all fifty Gaunt's Ghosts novels into a couple of series...
