Iron Warriors - 8th Grand Company

Was a Black Legion army which I finished about this time last year, I wasn't happy with the bland black and gold (that Sam Sparrow song Black & Gold is going through my head! lol) so I looked for other traitor legions, Iron Warriors looked the part. After a few simple test models which were boltgun metal with badab black wash they looked the nuts so I went with it. Nearly a year later I present the Iron Warriors - 8th Grand Company!

The "Dead" Prince, was my second Daemon Prince I painted:

The "Blood Red" Prince was the first Daemon Prince model I brought and was originally Black Legion, easy to paint over! Considering red is a bloody pain to paint over black I've managed to work up the colours and its turned out well.

Both Princes have mark of nurgle and warptime

These Chaos Terminators I picked up for just under £15 on e-bay, were the last Iron Warrior unit I painted and are done in devlan mud as I ran out of badab black wash.

I used to run two Chaos Vindicators, but after weighing up the pros and cons I went with two Defilers, mainly because of the longer range and can fight back in c.c

I brought two Defiler kits on the cheap, both £25 and still in the box. I was planning to make a Brass Scorpion, though I had seen a picture where someone had made a decent smaller Scorpion from one Defiler kit. So I decided to make two!

One had normal claws, while the other one two combat flails which I think look cool. I use them in planetstrike games as count as Chaos Vindicators.

I did a trade with someone on another 40k forum and in the deal I actually got two AOBR Dreadnoughts instead of one I thought I was going to get. After seeing a simple conversion guide on dakka dakka I did my own.

Starting to look good silly question though how did you manage to post so many good qual pics within the limitations?

Thanks :) I posted four pictures at at time, if you notice they are all seperate posts. Highly annoying when you've got 70 pictures! :confused::mad:

Very nice, I was thinking about doing iron warriors myself but didn't have the money. The gold on the first set of termies looks a bit bright, but the rest is better. Also, why is there a stompa in the army pic:confused:?

The pic are a little bit too dark. I think your IW can use a little workover for more details. They look kinda fast-finsihed for me. I like the Scorp-Defilers. IW like demonic warmachines. Overall nice little army:)

The first set of chaos terminators are the last ones I painted, and as I mentioned I ran out of badab black wash and used devlan mud so they look more cleaner compare to the rest.

The stompa lives on the sub behind the army, I forgot to take it out the pic, but I thought people would realise its obivously not part of the army :p

Yeah the natural light is behind me like it should be, but still come out dark - perhaps could have put the lamp on. It didn't take me long to do them, boltgun metal gold trim then badab black wash, not a whole lot of details on them tbh and I'm not a highlighting guy. I've had some good comments about the scorpions in games, I think they turned out well. Thanks :cool:
