Yes, that is an entire army of wraithlords being smooshed by primarchs (Fulgrim and Perturabo by the looks of it). More images and info here (http://www.blacklibrary.com/Blog/Hells-Angels.html). More stunning artwork from BL.

Yeah it is. If you like this, you should check out the pics they have for the Neferata Time of legends book that Eldargal has posted down in the Warhammer forum. Even more stunning than these are IMO.

Thousand years earlier and the Eldar would totally have won that fight...

You could argue that the Marines are only winning cos they are all jumped up on Chaos juice... :D

Well that goes without saying.:p Still, it is nice to see some more Eldar art even if they are being pwnd by primarchs.

Begs the question, would there be wraithlords a thousand years earlier? I was under the impression the soul stones weren't worn until after the fall.

I think the Eldar Empire made extensive use of constructs, but it doesn't really matter. I doubt the soulstone technology came out of nowhere after the fall. Had the Imperium attacked the Eldar pre-Fall they probably would have just made Sol go supernova or done who knows what to them.

Its always interesting to see what an artist can do with commercial art done for specific publishing purposes.
In this case its a wraparound cover for the paperback. So the right half is the front cover of the book, with the top third reserved for the title text.

It's been mentioned a few times already but what's the 'dealio' with ghost like Eldar in the bottom left?
Perhaps some kind of Aspect Warrior that's now extinct, any guess people?

More Eldar fluff from the 31st Millenium is cool... As well as more Iron Warrior fluff, especially on Perturabo :D

No, theyre carryong some sort of war staff that the Spectes dont. Looks a lot line a new necron weapon actually.
Also why has no one noticed there are 3 primarchs on the cover? One in the front (gudssing Pertubo), one in pink (fulgrim) and one guy in the bsck ocer pertubos shoulder. Unless rhe guy in pink isnt a primsrch, just a normal marine? But i dont see one marine surviving long.
Also a few WLords arent going to bother 2 primarches. Magnus kills 2 demon infested Phantom Titans all by himself in Thousand Sons

The guy in pink in the foreground is just an ordinary Emperors Children (child?) and the guy partially hidden behind Perturabo is an ordinary Iron Warrior. Fulgrim is the guy in the background with the large wing. If you check the BL blog page it does say just two primarchs.
Edit. These two are the Primarchs

Upon reflection and a trip to the ever so poorly written 40k wikis this doesn't seem weird. Elrdad's already a Farseer from Ulthwe when he meets Fulgrim and the Craftworlds are supposed to have been independent and living their new lifestyle well before the Fall. The practice of spirit stones would likely have become a common practice. After that it doesn't take but one guy going "you know what would be rad? Making a giant robot body for grandpa."

Imagine all the problems that would be solved if there were a dozen Pathfinders in the wings ready to turn some heads into red mist...
I think the Eldar in the left foreground is a warlock, he(or she) is carrying a spear, has what looks like that rib-like pattern over the pectorals that runic armor has, and doesn't have the crest of a Farseer.
Though the pauldrons remind me of a guardian...maybe a Storm guardian being shredded by psychic power?

I'm pretty effing sick of the Eldar getting the chocolate end of the stick in the HH novels.
Fulgrim death gripping an Avatar's head? yeah... ok... sorry I don't buy it.
Now this.
My Eldar pride can only take so many injustices.

Yeah I'm pretty bored of everyone just bashing on the Eldar despite the fact that by all rights they should win almost every battle they fight, due to the fact that they almost always choose their battles, and thus wouldn't strike without a high chance of victory.
On the other hand despite being an Eldar fan I'm not deluded enough to think that one Avatar could take on a Primarch. I agree that the way he got it was ridiculous, an Avatar wouldn't be stupid enough to be distracted by throwing his sword up into the air, but the fact remains that a Primarch is more powerful than an Avatar.
Either way they need to stop bashing on the Eldar, even in their own books. The Eldar aren't stupid, they know what a Primarch and space marine force is capable of and wouldn't attack them without a way to kill them. Personally I don't know why they don't just fire distort cannons at them, it doesn't matter how tough they are if they're sucked into the warp.

I get where you are coming from in the Eldar bashing, but that is what happened. The Imperium stomped over every race in the Great Crusade. The only reason the don't wipe the Eldar out completely is because they floating around on their craftworlds and not on actual proper worlds that the Imperium consider to be theirs. And were it not for the HH, the Imperium would eventually have exterminated every alien race in the galaxy. Chaos actually did the Eldar a favour for a change.

pretty sure the enitre eldar race would unite if the emperor had succeeded in making a webway entrance probably behind the harlequins :P
i cant imagine the imperium standing up to that especially if they started appearing on terra via the webway gate that was just opened.
But i think the beating on the eldar comes from they are the best equipped enemy left to the imperium so they need a challenge

Eldar Bashing, 40ks Worf Effect (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheWorfEffect). Irritating to be sure, but at least it means eldar are still the tough guys even after having their civilization all but annihilated.;)
Of course this doesn't mean that every primarch isn't a great, raging Mary Sue but this is also why I stopped reading HH novels.

It's a nice piece of art but it gets so very boring seeing Eldar being the only ones being beaten in 30k artwork, what about seeing some of the many many many alien races that were exterminated? The Iron Warriors cleansing the Hrud warrens on Gugann? the Emperors Children wiping out the Laer? So much exciting and untapped potential there.

Xeno:
I'm guessing since you know of the Laer, you've read Fulgrim and know that the Laer were wiped out.
Speaking of edlar bashing. I've often wondered if 40k table top accurately depicts the eldar in the background.

Not at the moment, no. Eldar are supposed to have vastly superior technology, yet all our stuff is worse and costs more than the Imperium equivalent.

Not to mention we get out physkered by every space marine chapter, out maneuvered on the table by Imperial Guard, out -technologied by the Tau

I agree with Eldargirl, lets see what the next codex will behold.
Any ideas on who these green guys are, personally I'm guessing they are some kind of Aspect Warrior?

He seems to be bleeding green though. And unless i've missed something Eldar blood is red.
The wierd blood, the ghostly light and energy, i think they're some kind of spectral defender. Maybe eldar technology lost since the fall?

I think it's supposed to be the residual energy of emerging from a webway portal.

Actually the curved blade at the front of the pic does look like the power sword for warp spiders.
The 'ghost' effect could be from a psychic power on the squad.
