Anyone else read the March issue of white dwarf?
The sagaof Harald Deathwolf has been expanded with specific examples.
The last entry was the most intersting. The Kraken's Egg opens in 999 m41 with Harald's company sniffing out the danger and defeating a horde of gribblies!!!!!!

So...SW are still just really dumb, then?
Bringing an unhatched egg into their nice warm fortress, then be surprised when it hatches?
Fools.

They ride their dogs into battle. How much more dumb do you need?
It's pretty clear GW is recreating the silliness that surrounded squats prior to their demise so they can justify the nids eating fenris and get rid of the space puppies. All so that they can return you to your regularly scheduled Grimdark.

Ah, I take it you never heard of the tragic tale of how the mighty Bark Chasetail fell from grace and became a lone wolf?
It is a saga only told in hushed voices when the hour is late and the mead had been flowing as a cautionary tale to the new Blood Claws of the terrible seductive power of the chaos device known only as the rubber bouncy ball (RBB) that holds a terrifying power over all sons of Russ...

I'd be hella surprised if an egg I found on a beach after a storm with a 'leathery' shell hatched after I got it home. Ignoring the difficulties in respiration and hydration the heat in the fortress would likely hinder the egg's development, not aid it.

Then you're a fool, too. This is 40k. Everything that isn't humanoid in the universe is there to suck out your bone marrow, why would a mysterious 50foot egg be any different.
I guess they could have thought it was a Togepi...

Originally it was manufactured on terra, 30 millenia before the golden age of the imperium, un-like alot of other archaic defices, this one's STC has never been found again its said to have been swallowed by the warp itself.
slaneesh' screams of pleasure and maniacle laughter can still be heard to this day if you listen carefully enough. as he destroys worlds and untold billions with his rubber bouncy balls.
'bouncy balls, we are legion'.

Has there been an instance where something other than a bioship hasn't needed to breathe? I can't think of any, but I've been out of the fluff hounding for a long time. If old games still count, bioships have internal atmospheres so the need for respiration is clear.
