So I have all these models to make an awesome GK Army yet everytime I go to paint of the models I become so bored with painting silver. I not looking to do anything way over the top or something that will be showcased at the Golden Demons. I just want something that looks cool on the table and ultimatley I want to have fun painting the models. That being said I've been thinking of doing an alternate paint scheme of black to make them look like the early GK/Death Watch pitures I have seen and I wanted gauge feedback before I stop what I have done so far to see what others have done and see what advice you all out there have for me.

I painted my Grey Knights grey. The base color is Krylon Grey Primer. I darkened a jar of Codex Grey to match.

Wow that's really neat. Really says great knights with the muted grey and it looks kinda easy to replicate. How did you darken the codex grey and use as a high light?

tamiya has a nice gun metal grey spray (dark gunmetal) that is great for both GK and necrons.

having a quick basecoat in spray form may allow you to have more fun modelling and then play with shades on the metallics via washes and varying highlights.

here is a quick example of a friend GK done with the spray (photos by the Mrs :))

The GW hand flamer would work in this case as well, although with the better airbrush you could highlight all the models at once in a simple step.

I have no clue how to highlight a model using a airbrush
