I am curious, what is the oldest model you are still using when playing your 40K Armies?

Mine is a tie between 2 different squads, the original Space Marine Tactical squad (all metal) that was in the Large Blister.

The other squad is a squad of Jetbikes with a Mark II Shadow Attack bike attached.

My dark angels marines are still using 40+ of the old Metal marines (7 of which I got in Jr. High in a box set that included a captain, & librarian) and the tactical squads are made up of the old 30 man box set. I think I got both back in 92.

O_O Square bases...

When did you buy these Mr Circle?

I started in 3rd edition. And I have a few of my original marines left. Can't tell which ones now as they've been redone many times. I also still have my first bike squad and Landraider. And my first commander: a captain in terminator armor.

The Jetbikes were back starting in around 88-89 IIRC, I picked up the winged bikes back in the early 90's I think. The worst thing, I have another shadow attack bike still in the blister somewhere. I also happen to have 4 of the 1st gen of jetbikes 2 open 2 in blister, these are the 2nd generation. And yes, for 40K I am a packrat. I made the bases for the jetbikes because I hate the little hexagon flight bases they were originally on and they didn't sit on the base that well.

I'm adding second edition (rogue trader era?) orks in my new army. Painting a warphead as we type.

I have a small army of the original Rogue Trader plastic marines from 1987-ish. Unfortunately I dont have much of anything else for that army. Stock Missile launchers and flamers.
Also I use an original Squat in my ratling unit.
My 2 original imperial army metal figures are in my Imperial Guard command squad.

I've still got a bunch of Rouge Trader models mixed in my 40k minis, like a SM Landraider and regular marines. I also have a land speeder where the guys are hanging off the front and a handful of SW scouts.

Most of my Dark Eldar army is made up of out of production models. The metal wyches with the crazy hair and tubes running in and out of their bodies, the old plastic warriors, the old spiky raiders. I actually converted four of my older raiders into a sort of "Old-school what-if" venom. It's stupidly simple. Cut the middle out, glue the halves together, cur off the big vane thing on the back and glue the sideways-pointing parts between the round nacelles on the sides so that they serve to create a semblance of the Venom footprint, cut a small opening from the underside of the prow and glue a second splinter cannon onto the underside. I'm glad I didn't spend a lot of money on them, because like every other 40K army I've played in the last five years, they suck.

Either my old metal space wolf standard bearer, or, like warpcrafter, most of my DE. The only new stuff I have are my Mandrakes and Wracks.

But my oldest model is my landspeeder 1st edition, the marines on that are tiny. I don't have a photo of it but here is scan from the catelogue for ithttp://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r97/trollzwei/lanspeeders/splandcatalogpage.jpg

Most of my space wolf army started from the big box sets they used to sell in 2nd/3rd.

My sisters are mostly from box sets at the beginning of 3rd/2nd.

All of the sculpts for those are years and years old. ;)

most of my colllection are just models that are still in production like the current plastic chaos marines and loyalist dreadnoughts. i did recently buy the old Space marine terminator captain for a Captain Invictus conversion and also a Cypher model. OOP models that i would use if I still played Nids would be the 3rd edition 3 Tyrant Guard, 3 Biovores, 3 Lictors, 1 carnifex, Old One Eye and the old Space Hulk Genestealers that were reboxed for the 3rd edition nids (have about 28 i think though some have broken).

I use a lot of very old models. I'm still using the old Pink and Blue Horrors (the ones with the big hands that look like they are at a rock concert) for the Daemons, old Farseer, Warlocks, and Wraithlords for the Eldar. Heck, I even use a Forgeworld conversion Wave Serpent!

I have two of that same chaplain. One I bought painted from a former GW staffer I know for $50. The other I painted 10 years ago. I also have 3 of the old (not rogue trader era) metal landspeeders. I like the look of the old speeders compared to the new plastic ones. I also have a bunch of old DE stuff.

I still play with my old rogue trader era chaos renegades semi infrequently. My rogue traitor plague bearers are scattered amongst the new plague bearers, and those I play with alot. My nurgling bases have examples of all the various releases of nurgling styles... on each base. I'm thinking of playing with my oldstyle landraider now that forgeworld has given it a new name and ruleset. I still have a original plastic beaky marine squad that I admitedly just keep around to show myself how much I've progressed in terms of being able to paint. The old crab clawed chaos dread I still use in Apoc games.

The more I'm on this forum though I keep thinking I need to come up with an excuse to paint and field my old chaos squats. Forget squats... bring back Chaos Squats! :D

I'm guessing the large portion of my sisters are old not sure when they were sculpted I think the oldest is the former canoness model, only actual with a sculpted combi weapon (combi-flamer), and that silly icon in the other hand, I chopped that off and pit in a sword instead. A couple of my priests maybe and I've got some old marine scouts, IG and an assassin. On of the Guardsmen I have has one of those British cone hats they wore in Colonial Africa and is weilding a meltagun. Its usually small and I think when I repaint it I'll post it to see if anyone knows where it's from.

My Adeptus Mechanicus army includes lots of heavily converted vintage models - the basic troops are based off Space Crusade space marines, my servitors have 1st ed ork heavy plasma guns, and I'm currently buying up RT techmarines/techpriests on ebay...

My Chaos army is a bunch of guys from 3rd edition, along with an old metal dreadnought and metal terminators. Heck, my chaos terminators are still on the small bases! I get yelled at about it when I play them but hey, it's the base they were supplied with.

Also one of my Grey Knight dreadnoughts is a converted metal space wolf dreadnought.

I too still use RT-era minis. I have 40 or so power armored marines w/ various heavy and special weapons, some of those alternate terminator armored figures, an RT-era dreadnought. I also have some RT-era Orks that have only seen a battlefield once or twice.

I should really get some pics of all these now that I think about it...

My oldest models I am still using is 2nd edition box set space marines. I'm repainting them now. I have a 10 man tact squad. When they are done, I'm going to be running them as veterans.

My oldest model is 1989 version eldar. There are two of them for a heavy weapons team. I dobt use them because I don't play eldar, but they are my oldest. They are no sitting in simple green, waiting to be repainted.

Been playing since just after version 2 of the rules. Both my Sunhawks and Loyalist Emperors Children have some of the RTB plastic marines (primarily Missile Launchers) and my Nids have several of the tall "ants" that were first released as Warriors, a couple of the original Screamer Killer Carnifexes, 40 or so of the original metal termagants, and 30 of the original metal hormagaunts.

Almost forgot. All my Landspeeders are the 2nd generation metal versions.

I only have a couple very old 40k figures as I only got into the hobby for that game last year. Still I do have a couple RTB Marines that a friend gave me in a bag of mixed figures.

For fantasy I have quite a lot more, including old Marauder Miniatures (back when GW had 2 mini's companies, not just Citadel) metal chaos warriors, chaos dwarf wizard, liche, treeman & necromancer. I have a unit of the old giant crab claw Daemonettes and another of High Elf Maiden Guard. I also have that old 4-armed Slaanesh champion with the snake lower body.

I have some old Man O' War dwarf ships, as well as Chaos and Skaven Blood Bowl players.
