I've wanted to get in to wargaming ever since I saw my FLGS's 40k display from Assault on Macragge, and subsequently used my gas money to buy a box. However, I knew nothing about the hobby and had no one to play with, so after a few games against myself the box was shelved.
Years later I saw the orcs vs. dwarves starter box for Fantasy, and I thought surely my friends would play if I bought it. After assembly and a few solo games, it got placed on top of my 40k box.
It wasn't until I was at the yearly reunion for my church's youth group that I finally had my chance to get in to the game. I started chatting up a friend from high school whom I hadn't talked to in years, and somehow the conversation went to his Dark Eldar army. We spent at least an hour with him talking to me about 40k and WarmaHordes, and at the end he invited me to join his group and check it out.
I've yet to get my 40k army (I REALLY want some Orks, Grey Knights, or Space Wolves!), but I was fortunate enough to join just before a WM/H journeyman league, so I've been getting an equal amount of wins and losses with my Khador army.
I must say, this is the best hobby I've gotten in to. I immediately fell in love with painting, and after painting my first model I was already unable to field unpainted models anymore. So thanks to all of you who have kept this hobby alive and fun!
