Been reading through this monsters rules and its crazy once you get enough dice, its ethereal with magic resistance 2 and a 4+ ward, thats toughness 6, 4 wounds, 3+ armour and 2+ ward against the only things that can hurt it. On top of that it can charge through buildings, and gets a bucket load of hits on the charge.

any thoughts on how to keep this guy alive long enough to power it up? and if it has a place over the vargulf, terrorgheist or mortis engine?

Actually, I would like an answer to this question as well. The only way I can think of to keep it alive is to park it in the back of your deployment zone until it charges up, which seems very inefficient. In fact, that is the reason I currently don't take the Black Coach.
